Vehicle Replacement
Permission is hereby requested to purchase six police patrol
vehicles. This purchase will facilitate replacement of the older
model, high mileage units of our patrol fleet.
Authorization will~ enable us to ta~e advantage of the State of
California competitive bid requirement which requires awarding of
the bid to the lowest responsible bidder meeting state
specifications for California Highway Patrol special service
vehicles. The deadline for placing an order through the state for
these vehicles is April 1, 1982.
The purchase price per vehicle is $9,057.23, for a total of
$54,343.38. This price includes transportation by Car Carrier to
our City Maintenance Facility from the Sacramento area. The
vehicles are 1982 Chevrolet Impalas. Recent research indicated
that the Impala police vehicle was the overall best suited police
vehicle for operation in the City of Tustin.
To complete this purchase, the state requires the attached
resoluton be adopted by Council and submitted with the order.
The research and preliminary purchase information has been
coordinated through Maintenance, Finance and the Police
Department.
Recommendation:
Recommend approval by the Council for the purchase of six police
patrol vehicles at a total purchase price of $54,343.38.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT
OF GENERAL SERVICES OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
TO PURCHASE CERTAIN ITEMS (Police Patrol Vehicles)
The City Council of the City of Tustin, California resolves
as follows:
That the City Council of the City of Tustin does hereby
authorize the Office of Procurement, Department of General Services
of the State of California, to purchase police patrol vehicles
for and on the behalf of the City of Tustin pursuant to Section
14814~ Government Code, and that William Huston, the City Manager,
is hereby authorized and directed to sign and deliver all necessary
requests and other documents in connection therewith for and
on behalf of the City of Tustin.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Tustin, California, held on the day of
, 1982.
