TILLER DAYS COMMITTEE REQUEST
RECOMMENDATION
Pleasure of the Council.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
As Council is aware, the Tiller Days Committee was authorized $6000. and staff
assistance at the City Council meeting of February 1, 1982. At subsequent
meetings, discussion has ensued regarding a third utility pole and electrical
hardware. The Committee believes that they cannot do the event without adequate
power; without this third pole they state they would be unable to produce the
1982 Tiller Days. The funds requested are for a telephone-type pole and
equipment such as cable, meter boxes, junction boxes, circuit breakers, and
other hardware.
Council directed staff to investigate whether this pole and equipment would be
suitable for other City uses. Staff has looked into this matter and must report
no other immediate use for the equipment.
The Tiller Days Committee met Thursday, March 4; they plan to check with the
Marine Corps to see if they have the necessary equipment. Cherrill Webb, Tiller
Days Chair, will attend the March 15 Council meeting to bring Council up to date.
As staff understands the Committee's position, they are still requesting
approximately $1900. for the pole and equipment; they feel that the Tiller Days
event cannot go on without the additional equipment. Cherrill Webb will attend
the meeting to answer questions.
