MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, JANUARY 23,
1956, IN THE CITY HALL
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, Arthur O. Park, Lee A.
Byrd, E. L. Tadlock and Frank E. Bacon,
Jr.
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None
CITY ATTORNEY: Nisson was present.
Mayor Kidd called the meeting to order at 7:45 P. M.
Minutes of the meeting of January 9th were approved as
mailed out upon motion of Park, seconded by Tadlock and
duly carried, after an addition was made to Paragraph
7 in which it is now stated that Ordinance No. 95 was
approved for first reading "upon motion of Bacon, sec-
onded by Park and carried by roll call vote, all voting
Aye.
City Engineer McBride was directed to look into the
matter of possible danger to pedestrians should Palm
Fronds fall from trees on the South side of Tustin
Drug Store, East of "D" Street.
A copy,of an Application of Charles Mitchell, 165 "D"
Street, for an Alcohol Beverage License to sell "Re-
tail Packages Off-Sale General" was read and ordered
filed upon motion of Tadlock, seconded by Park and
carried by voice vote.
Upon motion of Park, seconded by Byrd and duly car-
ried Orange County Society for Crippled Children were
granted.permission to sell paper lapel Easter Lilies
on the streets of Tustin on March 23rd and 24th next.
The matter of possible annexation of several parcels
of land immediately South of Tustin City limits was
discussed at length.
Upon motion of Tadlock, seconded by Park and carried,
Edney and Needham's bid of $192 to completely remove
one eucalyptus tree at South West Corner of Lockwood
Park Place and Prospect Avenue was accepted.
Upon motion of Bacon, seconded by Park and duly car-
ried, Councilman Park was requested to contact the
Edison Co. requesting them to trim a sycamore tree at
185 North "C" Street below their wires and to remove
the entire tree if the price is satisfactory.
Upon motion of Tadlock, seconded by Bacon and duly
carried, Engineer McBride was directed to widen the
roadway improvement on South "D" Street from City
limits to frontage Road from 20 to 28 feet, including
cement curb and gutter.
Councilman Park moved to approve a Resolution author-
izing the South "C" Street and West Sixth Street im-
provemeht suggested by Engineer McBride who is to sub-
mit a Project Statement for the improvement of South
"C" Street and the 100 and 200 blocks of West Sixth
Street. Seconded by Byrd the motion duly carried.
RESOLUTION NO. Resolution No. 379 entitled "Resolution of the City
379 ADOPTED Council of the City of Tustin calling a General Muni-
cipal Election for April 10, 1956, etc., was presented
and adopted upon motion of Tadlock, seconded by Park
and carried by roll call voze.
RESOLUTION NO. Resolution No. 380 requesting the State Highway Depart-
380 ADOPTED ment to approve the action of making Sixth Street, be-
tween "B"and "D" Streets, a street of major importance
was adopted upon motion of Park, seconded by Bacon and
carried by roll call vote.
Ordinance No. 95 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of
Tustin Regulating the Erection, etc., of all Buildings,
etc., in the City of Tustin, etc.," was read by title
only upon motion of Bacon, seconded by Tadlock and car-
ried by roll call vote.
ORDINANCE NO. Upon motion of Park, seconded by Tadlock and carried by
95 ADOPTED roll call vote, Ordinance No. 95 was adopted.
BILLS Tadlock moved to pay the following bills, Byrd seconded
the motion. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned upon motion of Tadlock, sec-
onded by Park and duly carried.
