ON-STREET PARKING - 255 WEST 6TH STREET
~TI~N:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of April 5, 1982, authorize the red
zoning of curbs a minimum distance of 15 feet each side of the driveway located at
255 W. Sixth Street subject to Mr. Anderson's approval.
BACKGROUND:
At the March 15, 1982 City Council meeting, Charles Anderson expressed his
concerns of the excessive on-street parking on Sixth Street in front of his
residence and within the general vicinity, n~tor vehicles not stopping at the stop
signs at Sixth and "B" Streets, and street sweeping. Mr. Anderson indicated most
of the parking problems stem from the traffic generated from the clothing store
located on the southwesterly corner of Sixth and "B" Streets.
DISCIISSIONS:
Mr. Anderson's residence is located on the northeasterly corner of Sixth and "B"
Streets and has approximately 150 feet of frontage along Sixth Street including
his double driveway.
Mr. Anderson's suggestion of red zoning the curb adjacent to his driveway would
certainly help provide better visibility for vehicles exiting the driveway. It is
suggested that a minimum of fifteen (15) feet be red zoned each side of the
drive.
The violations regarding the stop signs at the intersection are primarily an
enforcement problem. However, the approach curbs at all four signs my require
additional red zoning to provide better visibility to the sign itself.
Street sweeping is performed on Wednesdays in that particular neighborhood, with
the majority of the sweeping being performed in the AM hours. Parking
restrictions during street sweeping hours could be utilized on Sixth St., but
staff feels that this may impact the businesses within the area and recommends
against that at this time.
