Future General Plan Amendments
On June 21, 1976, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 76-54
establishing procedures for General Plan Amendments. By terms of the
Resolution, amendments may be initiated by a majority vote of the City
Council with waiver of fees and environmental impact report requirements
satisfied, at public expense, at any time within the calendar year, within
the limitations of the State Planning and Zoning.
Mr. Robert Worden, owner of a parcel of land at the northeasterly corner of
McFadden Avenue and south "B" Street, has requested a change in land use
from residential to commercial. At present, there is another parcel
fronting on McFadden next to Mr. Worden's parcel that has a land use
designation of residential and would lend itself to commercial activities.
Staff feels that this would be a logical change since McFadden is an
arterial and not suited for a single family neighborhood. Two shopping
centers are located directly across the street and nearby Newport Avenue is
zoned commercial.
RECOI~ENDEO ACTION
Recommend to the City Council initiation of a General Plan Amendment for
the two properties on McFadden from multi-family to commercial.
