HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1955 11 28208 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING; NOVEMBER 28, 1955, IN THE CTTY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, Arthur O. Park, W. L. Tadlock and Frank E. Bacon, COUNCILMENABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., arrived at 9:00 o'clock P. M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:35 P. M. Upon motion of Councilman Park, seconded by Tadlock and duly carried, minutes of the previous meeting of November 14th were approved and mailed out. Harry Holmes was present in regard to the conditional status of a 26 ft. x 3 ft. sheet metal building recently moved unto the lot at 125 South "D" Street and requested permission to set the building permanently at that location on a cement foundation. The matter was discussed and it was agreed that City Attorney Nisson and Building inspector Kiser will endeavor to have a solution to present at the next meeting on December 12th. Perry Cook representing American Legion Post 227 and Charles Ryan, Scoutmaster of Troop 31 were present and requested permission to set a Quonset Building on the rear of Lots at 100, 110 and 120 South Prospect Ave., owned by Tustin War Memorial, Inc., for the purpose of Scout Troop 31 meetings. Council granted permission with details to be worked out later. The matter of new and modern street signs was dis- cussed. City Engineer McBride stated that Santa Ana Street Signs cost about $21.00 per sign and name plates 4.15 to $5.00, that the total cost of similiar signs for Tustin would be about $1,000. Council requested Mr. McBride to secure prices on various types of street signs. Engineer McBride was requested to secure bids on the removal of thirteen (13) trees at the North West Corner of First and prospect Streets and a mulberry tree at Second and prospect Streets. Mr. McBride informed Council that the State will install a sign on the Freeway South of Tustin directing Northbound traffic into the City. Council and Mr. McBride discussed the cost of main- tenance of traffic signals at Main & "D" Streets. He recommended that maintenance by the State be arranged for the present. Upon motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Park and duly carried, Lee A. Byrd was appointed a Council- man to fill the unexpired term of John V. Sauers re- signed. Upon motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Park and carried, the following bills were ordered paid. First National Bank of Tustin $ 8.00 Calif Division of Highways 140.79 Calif.
