BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION The specific request is to permit a twenty foot tall pole sign with a total square footage of forty-nine (49) square feet per face. The sign face will be divided equally between the two tenants. The building being served by the proposed sign is a single-story structure, 16'-6" tall. Article I, Section 1 of the Sign Code states that in reviewing and approving a proposed sign: "The sign shall not exceed the height of the roof of the structure being served." In order to conform to code, the proposed sign shall have to be reduced in height to 16'-6" or less. The nearest pole sign that is applicable to the proposal is the Ralph's Sandwich Shop sign at [4182 Newport. The sign is 45 square feet per face, with the sign divided between the sandwich shop and a donut shop. The proposed pole sign is in substantial conformance with the pole sign at 14182 Newport Avenue. EMK:jh 5-28-82 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2036 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AGENCY OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, GRANTING AUTHORITY TO CONSTRUCT A POLE SIGN AT 14191 NEWPORT AVENUE The Planning Agency of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as follows: I. The Planning Agency finds and determines as follows: A. That a proper application, (Use Permit No. 82-11), has been filed by Toni Crist to construct a pole with a total of forty-nine (49) square feet per face to be utilized by two tenants. B. That a public hearing was duly called, noticed and held on said application. C. That establishment, maintenance, and operation of the use applied for will not, under the circumstances of this case, be detrimental to the health, safety, morals, comfort, or general welfare of the persons residing or working in the neighborhood of such proposed use, evidenced by the following findings: 1. The pole sign as submitted is in substantial conformance with the requirements of the City of Tustin Sign Ordinance No. 684 as amended. D. That the establishment, maintenance, and operation of the use applied for will not be injurious or detri- mental to the property and improvements in the neighbor- hood of the subject property, nor to the general welfare of the City of Tustin, and should be granted. E. Proposed development shall be in accordance with the development policies adopted by the City Council, Uni- form Building Codes as administered by the Building Official, Fire Code as administered by the Orange County Fire Marshall and street improvement requirements as administered by the City Engineer. F. This project is categorically exempt from the re- quirements of the California Environmental Quality Act. G. The Planning Agency hereby approves Use Permit No. 82-11, to authorize construction of a forty-nine (49) square foot per face pole sign at 14191Redhill Avenue, subject to the following conditions: A. The proposed pole sign shall conform to the City of Tusttn's Sign Ordinance No. 684, as amended. The pole sign shall require the approval of the City Engineer to ensure the sign shall not encroach in the public right-of-way. C. The sign shall not exceed the height of the roof of the structure being served O. The proposed sign shall have a common background color for both tenants. E. The pole sign shall be dimensioned for its location on the property. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Tustin Planning Agency, held on day of , 1982. Richard B.
