MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING,
MARCH 28, 1955, AT THE CITY HALL
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, John V. Sauers, Arthur
O. Park, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., and W. L.
Tadlock.
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None.
CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:30 P.M.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as
read.
Chester Oliver was present, representing local American
Legion Post No. 227 and presented a written request for
permission to sell fireworks within the City Limits of
Tustin during the week preceeding July 4th, 1955. Upon
motion of Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Tadlock
and carried, permission was granted upon the same conditions
as in previous years.
Street Commissioner Sauers outlined preliminary routine
in regard to the considered purchase of a new truck body
for the collection of garbage and refuse and recommended
the purchase of a Gallon (EZ Pack) body at a quoted price
of $3,995 complete, including clearance lights, installa-
tion on a chassis, painting, lettering and the instruction
of the City's operator, with delivery approximinately June 1,
1955. Purchase of this equipment was authorized on motion
of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Park and duly
carried.
Mayor Kidd read a letter from a representative of Tustin
Playbox requesting permission to place a canvas advertising
sign across Main Street from Tustin Drug Store to Tustin
Food Center. Permission was granted upon motion of Council-
man Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Park and carried, with
the stipulation that the sign is to be under the supervision
of Chief of Police.
Local Director of Civil Defense B. R. Woodhill written re-
signation was presented and accepted upon motion of Council-
man Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock and carried. Mayor
Kidd stated that Vincent L. Humeston may accept the position
of Director of Civil Defense for the Tustin area and in the
meantime Mayor Kidd will act as temporary Director.
Police Commissioner Tadlock recommended that in lieu of "On
Call police Pay" the police Sergeants pay is to be fixed at
$305. per month starting salary, $310. after six months and
$315. after the first year's service. Patrolman's salary to
start at $290. per month, $295. after six months and $300.
after the first year. Upon motion of Councilman Tadlock,
seconded by Councilman Sauers and duly carried, it was agreed
to consolidate police pay as outlined above.
Mention was made of approximately thirty uncollected Dog
Licenses due this current year.
Upon motion by Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman
Park and duly carried the following bills were ordered paid.

Adjournment of the meeting was ordered upon motion of
Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried.
