HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1955 02 14 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 14, 1955, AT 7:35 P- M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, John V. Sauers, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., Arthur O. Park and W. L. Tadlock. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:35 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Among the correspondence presented was a letter from E. L. Galentine protesting the City's License Fee of $2.00 per year per machine for 1 cent Vending Machines. Upon mo- tion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Park and duly carried, the letter was ordered received and filed. A letter from Ralph P. Livenspire, of 180 South "A" St., requesting removal of a walnut tree South of his house was presented. Street Superintendent Johansen stated that he would endeavor to have this done by the Street Department personell in the near future. A letter from the Orange County Society for Crippled Children requesting permission to sell Paper Easter Lilies on the streets of Tustin on March 25th or 26th, or both, was presented and read. Permission was granted upon motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Sauers and duly carried. DOG LICENSES John Z. Reed, Doyle Flohra and Max Sagraves were present FOR SPAYED and entered protest regarding the fact that Ordinance FEMALES NOW No. 5 specifies a yearly tax on female dogs without $2.00 mention of spayed females. This matter was discussed. By unanimous consent Council instructed the Clerk to accept $2.00 fees as tax on spayed females in future when a satisfactory certificate of proof is presented and to return $1.00 of each $3.00 paid for 1955 licenses for spayed females when satisfactory proof is presented. City Attorney Nisson was requested to prepare an Amend- ment to Ordinance No. 5 covering the above change in license fees. Five estimates for painting the City Hall and Fire Hall were opened and read. No action was taken at this time. Councilman Tadlock agreed to study the matter and to report at a later meeting. CREDIT City Engineer McBride was present and stated that the BALANCE State Department of Finance, Chapter 47, reports a IN CHAPTER credit balance due the City of $337.76 which the City 47 OFFERED cannot use. Mr. McBride suggested that this balance TO CITY OF be assigned to the City of Brea. Upon motion of Coun- BREA cilman Park, seconded by Councilman Sauers and duly carried, it was agreed to offer this credit balance to the City of Brea on condition that they prepare all the necessary forms. Upon motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Council- man Sauers and duly carried the final maps of Tract No. 1837 were approved and accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk. were authorized to sign an Agreement between the City and Quality Development Co., Inc., Tract Developers. PROJECT 22 Engineer McBride presented Plans and Specifications for APPROVED the improvement of South "D" Street, project 22, at an estimated cost of $4,305.00, leaving a balance of $600.00. Approval of the above was granted upon motion of Councilman Sauers, seconded by Councilman Park and carried. BILLS The following bills were approved and ordered paid upon motion of Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Sauers and carried.
