Sealed bids for this work were opened on July 9, 1982 at 10:00 AM and were received as follows: CONTRACTOR R.J. Noble Co. Griffith Co. McGrew Const. Co. Inc. Silveri & Ruiz Const. Co. Sully-Miller Contracting Co. T.J. Crosby Co. Inc. BUSINESS LOCATION Orange, CA Santa Ana, CA Anaheim, CA Garden Grove, CA Orange, CA Santa Ana, CA BID $1,218,641.50 1,308,633.81 1,326,105.70 1,343,835.51 1,371,101.70 1,387,670.53 The low bid is 3.7% below the Engineer's estimate of $1,265,055.00. There is presently $1,350,000.00 in RDA funds allocated for this work. The actual recommended contract award amount is less than the low bid submitted because the total low bid includes both Bid Items No. 82 and 83. Bid Item No. 82 is a bronze street clock with chimes. Bid Item No. 83 is an alternate cast iron street clock without chimes, which was included in the event bids came in high and it was found necessary to reduce costs. For low bid comparison purposes, contractors were instructed to include both of these items in their total bid. In light of the favorable bids received, staff is recommending the bronze street clock with chimes. The recommended contract award amount reflects this recommendation and the cost of the cast iron street clock without chimes has been deleted from the contractor's low bid total.
