MOD'S 07-19-82DATE: TO: FROM: S UBJ ECT: July 19, 1982 CONSENT CALENDAR 7-19-82 Inter-Corn Honorable Mayor & City Council Members Community Development Department Final Acceptance of City Hall & Police Department Modifications RECOI~IENDRTION That the Tustin, City Council, at their meeting of July 19, 1982, adopt the attached Resolution accepting subject project and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed within 30 days of the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, it is further recommended that the City Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention amount ($3,160.00) at that time. This amount, together with the previous payment of $47,915,00, represents 100% of the final contract amount. BACKGROUND The subject project encon~asses building modifications to the Finance and Community Services Departments in City Hall and the Police Department. City Hall modifications included the addition of approximately 450 square feet of new space to the Finance and Personnel Departments and the relocation of the Community Services counter. Modifications to the Police Department included removing walls to redefine and enlarge work areas. Included with the initial contract (31,600.00) have been eight (8) contract change orders totalling $19,475.00 for a total of $51,075.00. With the exception of the removal of five trees ($895), these change orders represent additional modifications requested by a department subsequent to the initial contract. The three n~jor change orders were approved by the City Council on May 17, 1982 and include computer work to the Police and Finance Departments and the installation of carpet in City Hall. The computer work in Finance was $2,635.00 and $2,940.00 in the Police Department. The installation of new carpet in City Hall, with the exception of Community Development and Public Works Departments, was $9,275.00. The total of these change orders was $14,850.00. Additional modifications to Community Services included the construction of a four foot wall ($635.00), along with six new formica-faced drawers {$450.00). Additions in the Police Department included the installation of 14 feet of formica top ($785.00) and a free-standing laundry tray Mayor & City Council July 19, 1982 Page 2 ($245.00), along with retexturing and repainting of an office ($210.00). Changes in the Finance Department included purchase and installation of two te~ered window glass panes {$370.00) and removal and installation of two cabinets ($285.00). One. Omnizone thermostat'was required and installed by Louie Schmetzer at a costlof $960.00. Building Official EMK:jh 7-14-82 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 tl 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 RESOLUTION NO. 82-60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION (CITY HALL & POLICE DEPARTMENT MODIFICATIONS) WHEREAS, Martin Resnick Construction Company, having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public improvement; and WHEREAS, the Building Official has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion and acceptance of said public improvement should be filed and pa3nnent of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public improvement is more particularly described as follows: POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CIl~f HALL MODIFICATIONS AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Building Official of the City of Tustin be, and is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion and acceptance of said public improvement described herein as required by law.
