HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1954 09 13 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 13, 1954, AT 7:30 P. M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, John V. Sauers, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., W. L. Tadlock and Arthur O. Park COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was absent due to illness. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd at 7:30 P. M. Minutes of the regular meeting of August 9th and the ad- journed regular meeting of August 23rd were read and ap- proved. Messrs. Francis Shipman and J. W. Gilchrist, of McCoy Motors, Anaheim, were present and quoted prices on street sweepihg equipment. The matter was discussed by the Coun- cil members. PITTSENBARGER Mayor Kidd presented alette from Patrolman Ernest D. GRANTED PAY Pittsenbarger requesting two weeks pay in lieu of two IN LIEU OF weeks unused vacation. Upon motion of Councilman Tadlock, VACATION seconded by Councilman Park and duly carried, this re- quest was granted. A petition with eight signatures was presented request- ing the removal of two trees in front of 215 "D" Street with a notation attached by City Engineer McBride stat- ing that the City has no authority in the matter as the trees are within the right of way of State Highway 101. Mayor Kidd requested Councilman Bacon to look into the matter and to submit his opinion at the next meeting. MITCHELL Upon motion of Councilmak Tadlock. seconded by Council- GRANTED man Sauers and carried, a written request of Charles 20-MINUTE Mitchell, 165."D". Street, for a 20-minute parking zone PARKING in front of his place of business at the above address ZONE was granted. The matter of the expiration of the terms of six mem- bers of the Tustin Planning Commission was brought up by Mayor Kidd and discussed. Upon motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Park and duly carried, it was agreed that the expired terms of all members be renewed with the exception of those who may object to renewal. A copy or an unsigned letter addressed to Mr. Keeler, of Keelar Food Products, 465 W. Second Street, object- ing to the operation of his business from his residence was read by Mayor Kidd and ordered filed upon motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried. Mayor Kidd requested permission to be absent from the State until about November 1st. Request granted upon motion of Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried. Upon motion of Councilman Sauers, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried, Councilman Arthur O. Park was appointed Mayor Pro Tem during the absence from the City of Mayor Jerome C. Kidd. NEW WORK Police Commissioner Tadlock presented a work schedule for SCHEDULE the members .of the Tustin Police Department which pro- FOR POLICE vides for a 44 hour week in the future, each~ m~mber to be DEPT. on one 4 hour call at home each week, which schedule was adopted on motion of Councilman Tadlock, seconded by Councilman Park and carried. PAY Upon motion of Councilman Park, seconded by Councilman RAISES Sauers and duly carried, the salary of O. C. Phillips, GRANTED Street Department employee, was increased from $262.50 to $275.00 per month. The salary of Frank Dewhey, Street Department employee, was increased from $252.00 to $267.50 per month. William S. Leinberger, Treasurer, from $20.00 to $25.00 per month. Samuel C. Penington, Assessor, to be paid $25.00 per month. All the above to become effective October 1, 1954.
