REQUEST BY HOMEOWNER FOR PARKWAY TREE REMOVAL
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend the tree be removed by the City as requested, the
concrete damage be repaired on the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and
on the storm drain. Some damage also occurred to a planter box
in the parkway built by the homeowner and I recommend that this
damage be the responsibility of the homeowner to replace, if they
wish to have one there.
This tree should not be replaced.
BACKGROUND:
Barbara Dearing of 14491 Oxford Avenue requests that the City
remove the parkway tree in front of her property.
The tree is not an approved City parkway tree. The housing tract
was developed while in the County area and the tree planted by
the developer. The tree was' planted on the BCR of Oxford Avenue
north, east side of Walnut. It is within inches of the drop-in
box for the storm drain.
The tree root damage has not been limited to the curb and gutter
and sidewalk; it has also damaged the storm drain structure.
DISCUSSION:
The roots have raised the grade of her parkway. It is unsightly
and has damaged the concrete walkway and curb and gutter
hindering the drainage to the extent that water stands in front
of her property.
