CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING,
MAY 24, 1954 AT 7:30 P.M., AT THE
CITY HALL
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Jerome C. Kidd, W. L. Tadlock,
Arthur O. Park, Frank E. Bacon,
Jr., John V. Sauers.
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None.
CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present.
S. C. Penington, City Clerk, being absent due to ill-
ness, C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., City Attorney, was re-
quested to act as Clerk.
Communications: Petition was received by the City
Council concerning the building set-back of a dwell-
ing under construction at 160 North "C" Street. Tad-
lock moved, Park seconded, to have the petition receiv-
ed and filed and referred to the Planning Commission.
Motion was carried.
There were present at the City Council meeting in
connection with the subject Petition, Effie Christenson
and Mr. Flud.
City Engineer McBride was at the meeting and discussed
the matter of confusion in street numbers in the 300
block of North "D" Street. Councilman Sauers moved
that the buildings in that block be renumbered to con-
form to a system which would not be conflicting with
other numbers in said block and that the matter be re-
ferred to the Street Commissioner and Engineer McBride
with power to act and make the necessary changes. Park
seconded the motion and motion was carried.
Engineer McBride presented figures for the budget for
the improvement of "D" Street out of gas tax funds. After
discussion Resolution Number 356 was moved, seconded and
carried. On roll call all present voted "Aye" .
Discussion was had concerning a curb on the west side of
"D" Street in the area to. be improved.
Two letters dated May 19th from the Division of Highways,
District 7, were received concerning the cancellation of
taxes on properties purchased from residents of the City
of Tustin in connection with the extension of the Los
Angeles-Santa Ana Freeway. Letters requested cancellation
of taxes on the property owned by Cora Eva Logan described
as follows: That portion of the resubdivision of Block
and the East one-half of Block "B" of Ballard's Addition to
Tustin as shown on a map recorded in Book l, page 89, of
Miscellaneous Maps in the office of the County Recorder.
The other parcel of property was formerly owned by Pauline
Castillo and Frank N. Castillo and is described as follows:
Parcel l: Lot 23 in Block "B" of Ballard's Addition to the
Town of Tustin City, as shown on Map recorded in Book 29
Page 22 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County.
Parcel 2: All right, title and interest in and to "B" Street
abutting on the above described property. Upon motion of
Councilman Park, seconded by Tadlock, it was moved, seconded
and carried that cancellation of taxes on the real property
hereinabove described for the year 1953-54 be approved, it
appearing that the dates of transfer for the respective
parcels above described were August 18, 1953 on the Logan
property, and July 9, 1953 on the Castillo property.
Tadlock moved that the bills be paid. Sauers seconded and
the motion was carried.
