REQUEST FOR PARKWAY TREE REMOVAL BY HOMEOWNER
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend the tree be removed by the City as requested and the
concrete damage to the curb and gutter be repaired.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Smith of 14211DeBusk Lane has requested the City to remove
the large Elm tree in his parkway.
The tree is a Siberian Elm and is not recommended for parkways.
This area was developed in the County 30-35 years ago and only
recently annexed into the City. There is no sidewalk, so the
damage is limited to the curb and gutter.
DISCUSSION:
The roots have raised the curb and gutter to the extent that it
has interrupted the drainage flow. The tree is only recommended
in this part of the country for planting on slopes, It has a
very undesirable root system and is used in slide areas to
stabilize slides.
