OLD BUSINESS 11-1-82 DATE: OCTOBER 8, .82 lnter-Com TO: FROM: S USJ ECT: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER BOB LEDENDECKER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER REQUEST FOR RESTRICTED PARKING ON "C" STREET NORTHERLY OF FIRST STREET RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of October 20, 1982, authorize the installation of signing to restrict on-street parking during street sweeping hours, 6:00 AM to Noon on Wednesdays, along "C" Street between First St. and the northerly terminus of "C" Street. It is also recommended that warnings be issued in lieu of citations for the first 30 days after the sign installation. BACKGROUND: A request for restricted parking during street sweeping operations along both sides of "C" Street between First St. and the northerly terminus of "C" Street has been received from a resident of "C" Street. A questionnaire was sent to all affected residents and businesses soliciting their opinions on the parking prohibition. A total of 26 questionnaires were mailed and the following is a recap of responses: YES - 11 NO - 6 NO RESPONSE - 8 VACANT RESIDENCE - 1 A total of 64.7% of those residents responding were in favor of the parking prohibition, Some of the additional comments on the no responses were as follows: ° Absolutely not. ° Between the hours of 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM would be better as I have no other place to park my car before leaving for work. ° It would be impossible to have no cars on the street at that time. There are too many cars and not enough room to park. Most of the driveways are being used besides the street parking. Please consider that. The suggested signing for this street would read as follows: NO PARKING 6:00 /~1 TO NOON WEDNESDAY STREET SWEEPING REQUEST FOR RESTRICTED PARKING "C" STREET NORTHERLY OF FIRST STREET OCTOBER 8, 1982 PAGE TWO This street is a cul-de-sactype, or closed street; consequently, signing will only be posted at the First St. entrance to "C" Street and just northerly of the alley.
