COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, APRIL 20,
1953, AT 7:35 P. M. AT THE CITY
HALL.
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, Jerome C. Kidd, Wint-
ford L. Tadlock and Frank E. Bacon, Jr.,
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None
CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Humeston at 7:35
P. M.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mayor Humeston presented and read a letter from the City
of Turlock, Calif., suggesting that future Council Meet-
ings be opened with prayer as is now being done in cer-
tain other cities. Council took no action at this time.
Ordinance No. 88 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of
Tustin, California, Accepting. and Approving B. R. Gentry
Annexation to the City of Tustin was presented by At-
torney Nisson and read by title only on motion of Coun-
cilman Kidd, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried.
ORDINANCE Ordinance No. 88 was adopted on motion of Councilman
NO. 88 Kidd, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried.
ADOPTED
City Attorney Nisson presented a verbal message to the
Council from Engineer McBride who could not be present
in regard to the proposed paving of the alley North of
Second Street, between "C" and "D" Streets. Mr. McBride
recommended that this alley should be graded by the City
with proper drainage in mind. Upon motion of Councilman
Bacon, seconded by Councilman Tadlock and duly carried,
Engineer McBride was authorized to supervise the project
and authorize application of light oil to stabilize the
surface.
Mayor Humeston brought up the matter of appointment of
a Councilman to fill the vacancy resulting from the re-
signation of Wm. I. Miller. Council members agreed to
give thought to the matter and to make a decision as
to an appointee at an adjourned meeting to be held on
Saturday, April 25th, at 9:30 A. M.
The matter of Mr. Miller's resignation as Chairman of
the Tustin Planning Commission was also mentioned by
Mayor Humeston. Council agreed to request Mr. Miller
to continue to serve as Chairman of the Planning Com-
mission.
Councilman Bacon stated that Chamberlain & Roach, or,
Bill & Lee's Market, 455 W. First Street (U. S. 101)
have requested that a street crossing be designated
in the middle of their block for the greater conven-
ience of their customers, etc. Police Chlef Johansen
stated that this matter had already been taken up with
the State Highway Department and that it would not be
allowed by the State.
Upon suggestion of Councilman Kidd, Councilman Tadlock
was requested to interview Auditors Hanson & Peterson
relative to changing the regular City audits from
Quarterly to Half Yearly periods.
BILLS The following bills were presented, approved and ordered
paid on motion of Councilman Kidd, seconded by Council-
man Tadlock and duly carried.

On motion of Councilman Kidd, seconded by Councilman Bacon
and duly carried, this meeting was adjourned until Satur-
day, April 25th, 1953, at 9:30 A. M.
