HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1953 02 02 MINUTES OF A.MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 2, 1953, AT 7:30 P. M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, Wm. I. Miller, Jerome C. Kidd, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., and Wintford L. Tadlock. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. Mayor Humeston celled the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Councilman Miller read a letter signed by Willis H. Warner, Civil Defense Coordinator, Santa Ana, Calif., relative to an address by Mr. Beeson, in the Little Theatre of the Santa Ana High School, at 7:30 P. M., on February 9th, relating to his own and England's experience with Civil Defense during World II, which Mayor Humeston and members of the Council are invited to attend. Councilman Miller stated that Col. E. L. Creager ss to be invited to attend this meeting along with Councilman Miller and City Attorney Nisson. LETTEN OF Councilman Miller read a letter from Dream Homes, Inc., AGREEMENT developers Of Block "D" of Bundy's Addition to the City of WITH DREAM Tustin, regarding the construction of sidewalks and curbs HOMES, INC. in front of all parcels of property in the above described Block except the South 150 feet thereof. The letter further stated that this undertaking concerns sidewalks and curbs only on the one side of the streets adjoining the subject block, except as to Pasadena Avenue. On Pasadena Avenue the letter states that the undersigned also agrees to con- struct or cause to be constructed, in addition to the men- tioned curbs and sidewalks on the East side of the street, a curb (but no sidewalk) along the West side of this street for t he same distance and to like specifications as to the curb on the East side of this street. Councilman Miller moved to receive, approve and file this letter of agree- ment, seconded by Councilman Bacon the motion duly carried. On motion of Councilman Miller, .seconded by Councilman Kidd and carried, City Engineer McBride is to be instructed that all driveway specifications are to be of approved cement construction. A letter from the Californila Division of Highways relative to the apportionment of January, 1953, payment of Gas Tax Allocation for expenditures on City streets was presented and read to the Council. It was moved by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilmm Bacon and duly carried to receive and file the above letter for six months. Mayor Humeston brought up the matter of B. R. Gentry' s An- nexation Petition which was discussed by the Council and held over until the meeting of March 2nd, 1953. Councilman Bacon brought up the matter of Wheel Tax Li- cense which was again discussed by the Council and held over until a later meeting. Councilman Bacon presented a report of the activities of the Police Department during the month of January, 1953. RESOLUTION Resolution No. 332 "Interpreting the provisions of Ordin- NO. 332 ance No. 87 relative to changing the location of a business ADOPTED within the City limits" was adopted on motion of Council- man Miller, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried. Council discussed a letter from the Delano, Calif., Chamber of Commerce requesting them to pass a Resolution in regard to eliminating architectural expense in the future planning of school buildings. Councilman Tadlock suggested that it would probably be wise to take no definite action in view of the nature of the request. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried, it was requested that a letter be written under Councilman Tadlock,s direc- tion in answer to the above. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Kidd and duly carried, it was agreed to purchase one additional table for the Council Chamber.
