REQUEST FOR USE OF CITY STAGE
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of November 7, 1983 authorize the
use of the stage facility by the Leukemia Society of America and waive the normal
$50.00 use fee.
BACKGROUND:
Staff has received a request by the Leukemia Society of America to use the
portable City stage facility on Saturday, November 12, 1983 for a fund raising
event at Cypress College. A copy of this request is attached for your
information.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the request for the use of the stage being out of the City limits, staff is
forwarding this request to the City Council for their consideration.
As indicated in the letter of request, the Leukemia Society will be responsible
for the pick-up and assembly of the stage and its return to the City. Normally,
the City is responsible for the delivery and assembly of this facility, which is
included with the $50.00 rental fee. In this case, with the stage being utilized
out of town, and by a non-profit fund raising society, it is suggested that the
fee be waived. No other requests for use of the stage on November 12, 1983 have
been received.

Dear Mr. Ledendecker:
On Saturday November 12, 1983 the Tri-County Chapter of the Leukemia
Society of America is sponsoring a Jazzercise-a-thon at Cypress College
in Cypress California.
The event will take place in Gym II from 1 to 5 P.M. Proceeds from the
event will be used to support the Society's programs of patient-aid,
research, public and professional education, and co.,.-~nity services.
What we are requesting from the City of Tustin is the use of your
· portable stage on the day of the event. As we discussed earlier the
Leukemia Society will be responsible for the pick up and delivery of
the stage, assembly, and the return of the stage upon conclusion of the
event.
The Leukemia Society has been the City of Tustin's local chapter for over
10 years, and to date has raised nearly two million dollars. My family
has lived in Tustin for over 20 years~ and my father-in-law was a member
of the Planning Co,~nission, (Norman Ealus). We all have come to
appreciate the "community spirit" which the City of Tustin exhibits.
Whatever you can do in regards to this request will be greatly appreciate~
by all. The city will be recognized for their contribution during the
event. Thank you for your time. See you at the Council meeting.
Sincerely, ~.
