DISCUSSION
The Redevelopment Agency continued consideration of the subject project to
permit the Tustin Unified School District Board of Trustees an opportunity
to review and comment on the proposed motel. Attached to this transmittal
is a correspondence from the Board of Trustees.
The Agency raised further questions regarding payment of transient
occupancy tax should the units be occupied in excess of thirty (30)
consecutive days. Since a motel is considered for transient occupancy
purposes, and Section 2701 of the Tustin City Code defines transient as an
occupancy of 30 consecutive days or less, occupancy exceeding 30
consecutive days would be a violation of the Zoning Ordinance.

Dear R on:
At their regular meetin/ ~tonday, September 19, the Tustin Unified School
District Board o£ Education discussed at some length the proposed motel to be
constructed across the street £romTustinHigh School. Nhile the Board took
no o£/icial position on this proposal, they asked that I convey to you some
serious concerns they have.
That the welfare o£ the more than 2,000 adolescents who will be
attending Tustin High $chool be carefully considered.
Inasmuch as the traffic in that vicinity is already critical, that
there be some provision made to ease the traf£ic congestion which might
be created by this project.
That any additional parking needs created by this proposal be
acc~odated so as to minimize any hazards or inconvenience to that
nei/hborhood.
The sa/ety of students, parents, e~ployees, and visitors to the ca~pus
be considered in any plans £or that area.
Inasmuch as a large segment o£ the young people in the City of Tustin are
involved in one way or another withTustinHigh School, we hope the concerns
expressed will be central to your deliberations regarding the £easibililty of
such a project.
Sincerely,
Superintendent
