BACKGROUND: German gilliani, a Custodian in the Maintenance Division, has resigned his position effective August 12, 1983 to accept a position with the Postal Service. This position provides for the cleaning of the public restroom facilities in each of the parks as well as the removal of trash from the various receptacles throughout the parks and the custodial services of the Maintenance yard facilities. In addition to these duties, this position serves as a part-time Maintenance Worker as time permits. DISCUSSION: It is requested that this position be filled as soon as possible so that we can maintain the current level of service to the park restrooms and other facilities. Currently, the Maintenance Division has two positions vacant; one from a previous resignation and the other position from a leave of absence without pay through Octdber of 1983 and which will most likely result in a resignation. Staff will also be investigating the replacement of this position with part-time employees and contractual services; however, these type of replacements may not provide the full services of both custodial and maintenance services which we experience from the existing position. In the event the position is not filled or replaced by some other means, it is suggested that the restroom facilities of the parks be locked and closed to the public due to improper care, resulting in unsanitary conditions.
