REQUEST FOR TREE REMOVAL
17341AMAGANSET WAY
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of July 18,' 1983,
authorize the removal of one Ficus. tree within the parkway
adjacent to 17341Amaganset Way and its replacement with a 15
gallon size tree subject to a suitable loc~tion being available.
BACKGROUND:
Staff received a request from Mr. Michael Smith of 17341
Amaganset Way for the removal of a "Ficus" tree located within
the parkway in front of his residence. Mr. Smith has indicated
that the roots from this t.ree have been causing problems with the
sanitary sewer latera.1 serving his residence.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has reviewed Mr. Smith's request for tree removal and
confirmed that the tree is l'ocated close enough to the sewer
lateral to potentially cause root infiltration problems.
Per current City policy, on June 7, 1983, staff sent letters to
nine (9) property owners within the immediate neighborhood
soliciting their objections, if any, to the removal of said
tree. As of this date, no replies either for or against the
removal have been received.
It is suggested that the Ficus tree at 17341Amaganset Way be
removed as requested and a replacement tree be replanted at a
suitable location, if available, that would not interfere with
the sanitary sewer lateral.
