COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, JANUARY
7, 1952, AT 7:30 P. M. AT THE
CITY HALL
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, William H. Gray,
William I. Miller, Frank E. Bacon,
and J. Roy Teter.
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None
CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Humeston
at 7:30 P. M.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap-
proved.
Mayor Humeston brought up the matter of Police Of-
ficer Ray E. States desire to return to work on or
about, January 15 and submitted a letter from Dr.
Kurt Schnitzer which states that Mr. States is now
physically able to return to work, with certain
reservations, and that a letter of clearance has
been requested from the State Compensation Insurance
Fund. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by
Councilman Teter and, duly carried, it was ordered
that Police Commissioner Bacon proceed in the mat-
ter at his own discretion after conferring with the
City Attorney.
Mr. Charles H. Gallion, of 200 South "A" Street.
Tustin was present and submitted a letter request-
ing an opportunity to bid on the City's insurance
in the future.
TO BEGIN PRE- Councilman Gray statad that he had contacted Mr. J.
LIMINARY SEWER L. McBride, City Engineer, who stated that as soon
SURVEY as he felt strong enough he intended to begin work
on the Preliminary Survey for a Tustin Sewer System.
Council discussed at length the desirability and
necessity of Tustin and the surrounding territory
having an adaquate Sewage System as soon as possible.
Mayor Humeston called attention to the Annual Fire-
mens Dinner to be held in Knights of Pythias Hall on
Thursday evening, January 10, 1952.
Acting Police Chief Huntsman stated that City Engin-
eer McBride planned to run a level on the sidewalk
and parkway in front of the Advent Church on or
about January 14.
Councilman Miller read a letter from the Equipment
Department of the Division of Highways, at North
Hollywood, regarding the City's desire to purchase
two used or discarded tires for the City Grader in
which they stated that they do not have any tires
of the size required in usable condition. Councilman
Miller suggested that Harold Carson be consulted.
On motion of Councilman Teter, seconded by Council-
man Gray and carried, Street Commissioner Miller
was authorized to buy tires for the Grader.
Mrs. William E. Moore, of 185 Lockwood Park Place,
requested through the City Clerk that the Eucalyp-
tus trees on the West side ef Prospect Street, North
of First Street, be topped. She stated that the limbs
have been falling off and punching holes in the and
punching holes in the roofs of nearby houses. Council
requested Councilmen Miller and Bacon to make an in-
spection and report at the next meeting of the Coun-
cil.
COLUMBUS A framed portrait of Columbus Tustin was delivered
TUSTIN to the Council and accepted. Same to be hung in the
PORTRAIT lobby of the City Hall at a date to be announced
DELIVERED later.
BILLS The following bills were presented. appreved and
ordered paid on motion of Councilman Miller, seconded
by Councilman Gray and duly carried.
