HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1951 08 20 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, AUGUST 20, 1951, AT 7:30 P. M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT : William I. Miller, J. Roy Teter, Frank E. Bacon. Jr., and Wllliam H. Gray. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Vincent L. Humeston. CITY ATTORNEY: Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. Due to the absence of Mayor Vincent L. Humeston, Mayor Pro Tem Miller called the meeting to order at 7:3O P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- proved after change was made in Paragraph 5 relat- ing to the Recommendation received by Councilman Gray by the Reginal Plan for Civil Defense propos- ing the designation of Orange County Civilian De- fense as Area X, Region 9. PROTEST IN RE Mr. Charles Rockwell was Present and protested the LICENSE FEE present charge of $15.00 per year for each Cigar- FOR CIGARETTE ette Machine Operating within the City as provided VENDING MACHINES in Section 1, Ordinance 69. He requested the Council to.pass a new Ordinance reducing the license fee re- quired for Cigarette Vending Machines. Council agreed to give some thought to the matter, the same to be taken up at a later meeting, City Attorney Nisson presented a letter signifying his approval of the City' s insurance requirements for the fiscal year 1951-52 as outlined by Dave Carmichael of the Orange County Insurance Agency. Mayor Pro Tem Miller brought up a request of Mr. Walter Rawlings, of the Tustin Water Works, for permission to lay 4-inch water pipe lines at Lock- wood Park Place nearer the surface than is custom- ary due to the fact that if laid at the regular depth it would be necessary to cut some of the roots of several Eucalyptus Trees. Council agreed to request City Engineer McBride's recommendation in this matter. On motion of Counciiman Teter, seconded by Council- man Gray and duly carried, Councilman Gray was re- quested to gather all possible data in regard to the physical appearance of Columbus Tustin and City Attorney Nisson was authorized to have a portrait made of Mr. Tustin in the near future, same to be hung in the lobby of the City Hall. The following bills were presented, approved and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried.
