HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1951 07 16288 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, .CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, JULY 16, 1951, AT 7:30 .P. M., AT THE CITY COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, Frank E. Bacon, William E. Gray, J. Roy Teter and William I. Miller COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. The meeting was called .to order by Mayor Humeston at 7:30 P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- proved after correction was made in the spelling of the name ~f~Paul Brad£ield in Paragraph 6 and a change I made in Paragraph 8 in which the Council "directed" the City Clerk to add 10% penalty to all Business Licenses ~remaining unpaid. On the last day of the first month on which the ~,icense is due and payable. ASSESSMENT Mr. Jerry Redlein, of the Tustin Motel, was present PROTESTS MADE and protested to the Council, sitting as a Board of TO BOARD OF Equalization, regarding the increase in assessment EQUALIZATION on his property over the assessment of last year. Mrs. Florence Prunty was also present inquiring as to the new assessment on her property at 190 Pacific Street and S. C. Penington being present protested the increased assessment on his wife's property at 355 Sixth Street. Mayor Humeston brought up the matter of proposed alterations to the shed in the rear of the City Hall. On motion of Councilman Teter, Seconded by Council- man Bacon and carried, it was agreed that the City buy the material for the partitions and overhead door in order to house the antique Fire Truck if the members of the Fire Department will do the work. PURCHASE OF Councilman Teter moved to rescind the motion of the ADDING MACHINE previous meeting to purchase a new Adding Machine RESCINDED for the Clerk's Office. Seconded by Councilman Bacon the motion carried. Councilman Miller stated that he believed that a pep- per tree located at Third and "B" Streets is dead and stated that it can be removed for $55.00. On a Minute Order of Councilman Miller, Councilman Bacon was re- quested to have Mr. J. A. Morris view the tree and that the tree be removed if Mr. Morris recommends that action. Councilman Miller recommended that City Engineer J. A. McBride submit specifications for repairing side- walk at the South East corner of Main and "C" Streets S and that at least three bids for this work be re- quested by Street Superintendent McMullen. Councilman Miller suggested that a heel be placed as a curb on the South side of Third Street, between "D" and "C" Streets and that Street Superintendent McMullen contact City Engineer McBride in regard to running a grade for same. Counctilman Teter suggested that a bill from the Tustin Water Works for the rental of 38 Fire Hydrants be re- ferred to Fire Commlssioner Gray for clariflcation and approval before being paid. BILLS The following bills were presented and approved for payment with the exception of bills from W. H. Bowman and the Municipal Fire Equipment Co. which are to be investigated and clarified on motion of Councilman Miiler, seconded by Councilman Teter and duly carried. James A.
