HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1951 06 04 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, JUNE 4,, 1951, AT 7:30 P. M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, Frank E. Bacon, Jr., William I. Miller and William H. Gray. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: J. Roy Teter. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nissm, Jr., arrived at 9:00 P. M. The meeting was called to order bY Mayor Humeston at 7:45 P. M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- proved after minor changes were made in Paragraphs 3 and 6. DOORS TO BE On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Council- PROVIDED FOR man Gray and duly carried, it was decided to revise SHED IN REAR the previous arrangement for a partition and two OF CITY HALL doors to be installed on the shed in the rear of the City Hall. Under the new arrangement the Build- ing Commission is to secure bids to cover the exten- sion by 3 or 4 feet of the width of the shed and for the installation of three doors but no partitions. Councilman Gray stated that the California League of Cities will hold a meeting tn Brea on June 28 in regard to the lower court reorganization and urged that all members of the Council attend. Councilma Gray also stated that a Civil Defense meeting will be held in the Supervisors offices in the Court House on Wednesday, June 6, and that he, Police Chief McMullen and Fire Chief Lindsay plan- ned to attend. Announcement was made by Councilman Gray that the next Tustin CiviI Defense Meeting will be held in the Grammar School Auditorium at 8 P. M. on Tues- day, June 19, at which time all Division Heads will present their written reports and other matters pertaining to Civil Defense will be discussed. CITY AUTHORIZED Councilman Bacon presented the matter of the Sum- TO CONTRIBUTE mer Recreation and Swim Program at the Tustin Union FOR RECREATION High School and stated that the net income for the PROGRAM 1949 season was $309.00; for the 1950 season $514.94; and that Mr. Northrup' s estimate of the cost of op- eration during the 1951 season would be approximin- ately $917.00. Mr. Bacon stated that it is under- stood that the Lions Club and the High School and Elementary School will all help to make up a possi- ble seasonal deficit and that the City' s share of the estimated deficit would probably be around $100.00 to $150.00. On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried, the City was authorized to contribute up to $150.00 toward a deficit, providing a deficit occurs. RESOLUTION NO. Resolution No. 288 entitled "Resolution of the City 288 ADOPTED Council of the City of Tustin Approving Memorandum of Agreement for Accumulation of the Gas Tax Allo- cation to Cities" was presented and adopted on mo- tion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried. 283 BILLS The following bills were presented, approved and or- dered paid on motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried.
