COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, MAY 21,
1951, AT 7:30 P. M., AT THE CITY
HALL
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, William H. Gray,
William I. Miller, Roy Teter and
Frank E. Bacon,
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None
CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present.
Mayor Humeston called the meeting to order at
P. M.
Minutes ef the previous meeting were read and ap-
proved.
STREET LIGHTS On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Council-
FOR LOCKWOOD man Teter and duly carried, Council approved the
PARK PLACE arrangement for two street lights for Lockwood Park
Place as requested by residents of Lockwood Park
Place and recommended by Mr. J. W. Dickson, of the
Edison Company.
Mayor Humeston read a letter from Mr. J. N. Morris,
of 1430 North. "A" Street, in which Mr. Morris com-
plains of the fire hazard and alleged rat infested
condition on the O. V. Dart property at 125 North
"A" Street. Copies of letters from the Orange
County Health Department and from City Attorney
Nissen were presented by Police Chief McMullen in
which Mr. Dart was requested to eliminate the un-
sanitary and fire hazard conditions existing on
his property. Mayor Humeston also presented a com-
munication from the League of California Cities
relative to Assembly Bills SB 642 and AB 3217. also
an invitation from the California League of Cities
for the Mayor and Council to attend the monthly
meeting of that organization to be held in Fuller-
ton on May 24. A letter from the City of Huntington
Beach was also presented inviting the City of Tus-
tin to participate in the Annual 4th of July Cele-
bration to~ be held~in Huntington Beach on that date.
CLERK GRANTED Council approved the City Clerk's request for a two
TWO WEEK week.vacation with pay, from June 11 to June 25,

RESOLUTION City Engineer McBride was present and reported com-
NO. 287 pletion by Sully-Miller Contracting Co., of the im-
ADOPTED provement of "C" Street, Project 16, between First
and Main Streets, at a total cost of $5,082.26, all
of which is to be charged against the Special Gas
Tax Improvement Fund. On motion of Councilman Mil-
ler, seconded. by Councilman Bacon and duly carried,
Resolution No. 287,.regarding the completion of the
improvement of "C." Street, Project 16, was adopted.
Council instructed City Attorney Nisson to prepare
an Ordinance regulating sidewalk and curb grades
and permission to out driveways.
PAYMENT TO On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Council-

PROJECT 16 ment of "C" Street, Project 16, or $4,574.04, be
paid to the Sully-Miller Contracting Co., forthwith.
The balance of $508.22 to be paid thirty-five days
after May 21st the date of acceptance, subject to
leins.
DOORS AND Councilman Teter moved that the Building Commissioner
PARTITION find a suitable contractor and that the City pay the
FOR CAR cost of installing two doors and one partition on
SHED two of the shed stalls in the rear of the City Hall
for the purpose of housing City equipment, viz; the
oldest Fire Truck and New PoliceCar. Councilman Mil-
ler seconded the motion which was duly carried.
STREET SIGNS Police Chief McMullen called attention of the Council
FOR "D" AND to the requirement of the State Highway Department
MAIN STREETS for Street Signs at signal controlled intersections.
Councilman Miller suggested that four signs designat-
ing, the street names be installed at the intersection
of "D" and Main Streets.
TEMPORARY Councilman Gray reported that a call had been made for
AIR RAID Volunteer Auxiliary Firemen and that all other matters
SIREN TO concerned with Civil Defense were functioning properly
BE INSTALLED and that Mr. W. Harold Finley has stated that he will
install a temporary Air Raid Warning Siren on the tele-
phone pole at the entrance to his place of business on
First Street.
BILLS The following bills were presented, approved and or-
dered paid on motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by
Councilman Teter and carried.
