THAYER, CHIEF OF POLICE COUNCIL REFERRAL - PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON CHAMBER STREET, IRVINE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX RECOMMENDATION: No further action. Posting is consistent with existing CC&R's and necessary for traffic safety. BACKGROUND: At the City Council Meeting on December 20, 1982,'Councilman Greinke indicated he had received complaints from small businesses regarding parking restrictions in the industrial complex. This area is posted "No Parking." The parking restriction is a condition of the CC&R's for the industrial complex. The streets in that ~rea were built to substandard widths in order to widen the green areas. This was done with the restriction of "No Parking." At present time, to allow parking of large trucks on the streets in this area could create safety problems for passing motorists and/or trucks moving in and out of the various driveways. Should the business owners in the area wish to have the signs removed they should have the CC&R's changed and establish assessment districts for sidewalks and maintenance of the sidewalks. There are no sidewalks at this time due to the specific CC&R's, green areas and substandard width streets. Chief of Police CRT:sa
