AMENDMENT OF THE PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS
TO DEFINE "RESERVE OFFICER"
Recently the Police Department inquired whether a reserve
officer must be afforded the right of a pre-termination hearing
prior to informing the reserve officer that his services are no
longer desired by the City of Tustin. In reviewing this matter
we noted that the Personnal Rules and Regulations do not define
the status of a reserve officer directly, although his status
could be determined by looking at other provisions of the Rules
and Regulations. This office thereafter proposed that the Per-
sonnel Rules and Regulations be amended to directly define
"reserve officer" and pursuant to that recommendation the Chief
of Police has requested that this office prepare a Resolution
for the City Council to affect this change. Pursuant to that
request, please find attached to this Inter-Com a proposed
Resolution for adoption by the City Council.
We welcome any comments which you may have concerning the
draft Resolution and we request that it be processed for adoption
by the City Council.
