PYRO-MUSICAL SHOW FOR 1982 FOURTH OF JULY CELEB
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize staff to execute letter of intent with Pyro-Spectaculars for 1982
pyro-musical show; this is a budgeted item.
BACKGROUND:
Planning is underway to produce another high quality Fourth of July Show for
1982. Pyro-Spectaculars, the firm who did both the 1980 and 1981 show, has
contacted us regarding the 1982 show. They are offering us the 1982 show at
the 1981 price of approximately $6,150.00, plus the sound system. Staff feels
that this is a reasonable price, well within the $9,000.00 budgeted by Council
for the project.
The Tustin Unified School District has again pledged cooperation in the co-
sponsorship of the show. We have received confirmation regarding utilization
of Northrup Field and School District maintenance staff at no charge to the
City. Due to the extensive support which the School District gives this event,
staff recommends they be listed in all promotional materials as co-sponsor of
the event.
Authorization to sign the letter of intent with Pyro-Spectaculars is requested
at this Council meeting because the quoted price is only good if the letter is
signed by January 1, 1982. After that time, the show will be quoted at
$6,450.00 plus music. Since we were so pleased with last year's show, it
seems logical to pursue with the letter of intent and save at least $300.00.
Further planning regarding other details of the 1982 Celebration will commence
in early 1982, and Council will be informed as we progress towards an even more
spectacular Fourth!
