HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1950 10 31 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CAlIF- ORNIA, HELD ON TUESDAY EVENING, OCT- OBER 3l, 1950, AT 7:30 P. M. AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, William H. Gray and J. Roy Teter. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Frank E. Bacon, Jr., and William I. Miller. CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson Jr., was present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Humeston at 7:30 P. M. Reading of the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with due to the fact that this is an ad- journed meeting. REGARDING Mrs. Elsa R. Armstrong, Ben Walledberg, Dr. Hall, of RENT Long Beach, Mr. A. R. Morris and Mr. John Siegal were DECONTROL present in regard to the matter of rent decontroi in the City of Tustin as held over from the previous meeting. Mrs. Armstrong submitted the results of a survey which shows a percentage of vacancies in houses and apartments within the City of 15.4 per cent. A petitionswith 96 signatures requesting rent decontrol was also submitted. After discussion by the Council it was moved by Councilman Gray that the Tustln City Council take the necessary legal steps to request of the proper officials permanent rent decontrol for the incorporated area of Tustin and that the City Council so instruct the City Attorney to prepare the required papers immediately for signatures of the proper City officials. Seconded by Councilman Teter the motion duly carried. REVISED Mr. Hugh Marshall, his engineer Mr. Larry Golden, Mr. MARSHALL Bob Scholler and City Engineer J. L. McBride were SUB-DIVISION present in regard to Mr. Marshall's proposed sub-div- MAP ACCEPTED ision at First and Prospect Streets. The entire matter was discussed at length. Engineer McBride objected to the rolled curb as specified in the plot plans with the resuit that Mr. Marshall requested that Mr. McBride design the type of curb required and stated that he would go along with him in the matter. The removal of certain trees was brought up and Mr. Marshall agreed to remove four trees and one stnmp. The matter of side- walks was then discussed and sidewalks of three inch thickness and four feet in width were agreed upon. On motion of Councilman Teter, seconded by Councilman Gray and duly carried, the revised sub-division map was accepted. RESOLUTION On motion of Councilman Gray seconded by Councilman NO. 271 Teter and carried, it was agreed that Resolution No. ADOPTED 271 accepting the revised plans of Mr. Marshail's Sub-division be adopted, Councilman Teter moved, seconded by Councilman Gray and duly carried, that the County-City Fire Mutual Aid Agreement be approved as requested by the Tustin Fire Chief and that the proper City officials sign the same. There were no bills presented at this meeting. Councilman Teter moved to adjourn. Councilman Gray seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. Vincent L. Humeston Mayor S. C.
