HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1950 08 07 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, AUGUST 7, 1950 AT 7:45 P.M., AT THE CITY HALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, William I. Miller, William H. Gray, J. Roy Teter and Frank E. Eaton, ~. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY C. Arthur Nisson Jr., was present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Humeston at 7:45 P. M. Minutes of the meeting of July 17th were read and approved. Mr. Dave Carmichael, represnting the Orange County Insurance Agency, was present regarding the annual audit of the public liability policy and a modifi- cation thereof to include the old Buick Fire Truck, thereby qualifying for fleet rates. Also to call at- tention of the Council to slightly different cover- ages account of the new City Hal ownership and oc- cupancy. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Gray and arried, the matter was re- ferred to Attorney Nisson for a report and recommen- dation and that if approved the policies were to be renewed. Mayor Humeston informed the Council of the present situation regardiing the affairs of Sanitation Dist- trict No. 7 and called attention to the meting of the Sanitation District to be held on Wednesday evening, August 9th. PRICE OF A On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman RESPIRATOR Miller and duly carried, Fire Chief Lindsay and Po- TO BE DE- lice Chief McMullen were instructed to cooperate in TERMINED determing the purchase price of a Respirator for use in the event of Disaster Relief, with the pro- viso that Dr. Lester L. Blount be consulted in the matter. PAY OF On motion of Councilman Teter, seconded by Council- CITY JUDGE man Bacon and carried, it was agreed that the pay of INCREASED City Judge R. P. Allen be increased from $100.00 to $125.00 per month. Upon request of Councilman Miller for a short leave of absence it was moved by Councilman Teter, seconded by Councilman Gray and carried, that Councilman Miller be permited to leave the State during the week of August 23rd. FLETCHER'S Councilman MilIer submitted a bid from Louis Markel, BID ACCEPTED of Costs Mesa, for proposed improvement to curb and FOR CITY HALL sidewalk in front of the City Hall in the amount of SIDEWALK $268.00, also a bid from Charles F. Fletcher for the same improvements in the amount of $120.00, based on a price of $1.50 per foot for the curb and 25 cents per square foot for the sidewalk. On motion of Council- man Teter, seconded by Councilman Miller and duly carried, Mr. Fletcher's low bid of $120.00 was ac- cepted for this work. Councilman Teter moved, seconded b Councilman Miller and duly carried, that the sum of $25.00 from the Re- creation Fund be allocated to the Tustin Lions Club to help defray traveling expenses of the Tustin Track Girls. Police Chief McMullen stated that the trailer situa- tion was welI in hand.
