HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1950 04 18 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL 0F TUSTIN, CALIF- ORNIA, HELD ON TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 18, 1950, AT 7:30 P. M. COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Vincent L. Humeston, William I. Miller, William. R. Gray, Frank E. Bacon, Jr. and J. Roy Teter. COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY: C. Arthur Nisson, Jr., was present. Mayor Humeston called the meeting to order at 7:30 Reading of' Ithe minutes of the preceeding adjourned meeting were dispensed with on morton of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Miller and duly carried. Councilman Gray read a statement of funds available for city street improvement as submitted by City En- gineer McBride. RESOLUTION City Attorney Nisson presented Resolution No. 256 NO. 256 entitled "A Resolution of the City Council of the ADOPTED City of Tustin declaring results of the General Municipal Election held on April 11, 1950." On motion of Councilman Bacon, seconded by Councilman Gray and carried, ResolutiOn No. 256 was adopted. OLD COUNCIL It was moved by Councilman Gray, seconded by Council- ADJOURNED man Miller and duly carried that the old Council adjourn. ________________ TWO NEW Upon reopening of the meeting by the new Council, COUNCIL a report on the results of the General Municipal MEMBERS Election held in the Tustin City Hall on April 11, SWORN IN. 1950, was read to the Council by the City Clerk who then swore in the new members. RESOLUTION Attoorney Nisspn presented Resolution No. 257 en- NO. 257 titled "A Resolution of the City Council of the ADOPTED City of Tustin Electing a Mayor of the City of Tus- tin and appointing a Mayor Pro Tern to act in the absence or incapacity of the Mayor," and was read to the Council. On motion of Councilman Gray sec- onded by Councilman Bacon and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 257 was adopted. RESOLUTION Resolution No. 258 was presented entitled "A Reso- NO. 258 lution of the City Council of the City of Tustin ADOPTED appointing a City Judge, Chief of Police and Li- cense and tax Collector, a Street Superintendent, a Deputy Tax Collector, a Clerk of the City Court, a BuiIding Inspector, an Electrical Inspector, a Plumbing Inspector, a City Attorney. an Auditor, a Deputy Assessor and a City Engineer." Councilman Gray moved to adopt Resolution No. 258, seconded by Councilman Bacon the motion was unanimously carried. RESOLUTION Resolution No. 259 was then introduced entitled NO. 259 "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of ADOPTED Tustin employing. Police Officers, Crossing Guard, Street Department employees for the City of Tustin and Janitor." On motion of Councilman Teter, sec- onded by Councilman Miller and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 259 was adopted. 2.2.5 MAYOR The matter of Departmental Appointments was brought HUMESTON up by Mayor Humeston who announced the appointment of APPOINTS COMMISSION- Councilman WiIliam I. MiIIer as Street Commissioner. ERS Councilman J. Roy Teter as Deputy Street Commissioner and Commissioner off Buildings and UtiIities. Councilman William I. Miller. as Deputy Commissioner of Buildings and UtiIities. Councilman William H. Gray as Finance and Fire Commis- sioner and Deputy Police Commissioner. Councilman Frank E. Bacon, Jr., as Police. Commissioner, Commissionerlof Recreation and Parks and Deputy Finance Commissioner. Mayor Humeston presented Auditor Hanson's Audit Report for the First Quarter of 1950 which was read by and commented upon by Finance Commissioner Gray. On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Miller and carried, the City Clerk's office was al- lowed extra help for two weeks or less in order to type the heads for the new 1950-51 Tax Rolls.
