HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1950 01 16 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, ON MON- DAY EVENING, JANUARY 16, 1950, AT 8:20 P.M. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN HUMESTON, MILLER, GRAY AND BACON ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMAN CHARLETON CITY ATTORNEY: C. ARTHUR NISSON JE., WAS PRESENT Mayor Humeston called themeeting to order at 8:20 p.m. immediately after adjournment of the Tustin Planning Commission meeting. Minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved with the exception of a change in Para- graph 3 in which the name of Mr. N. R. Smail was corrected to read Mr. W. R. SmirI. Also an addi- tion was made in paragraph 9 relating to Resolu- tion No. 240 "Authorizing Change Orders, numbered 12 through 29, in that Certain Agreement for Con- struction of City Hall, was adopted, etc." DEL BROMELL Mayor Humeston mentioned the matter of a Janitor APPOINTED for the new City Hall and presented the name of JANITOR OF Jim Bosick as a candidate for the position. After NEW CITY HALLdiscussion of the matter Councilman Gray moved, seconded by Councilman Miller, that Del Broomell be appointed janitor on a basis of 75 cents per hour up to $25.00 per month. Motion carried. The matter of drainage of the North side of Sixth Street, West of B Street, was taken up at the re- quest of Mayor Humeston. Street Superintendent McMullen stated that Mr. Seely, of the County Road Department, had agreed to inform the City in re- gard to the County doing their share of this work but as yet he had not done so. Coucilman Miller suggested that City Engineer McBride be instructed to survey and place grade stakes in the area immediately surrounding the new City Hall so that there would be no grading charge at the time of paving. On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Council- man Miller and duly carried, the offer of Mr. A. S. Hendricks of $25.00 for the Venetian Blinds, Parti- tions and Floor Mats at the old City Hall was ac- cepted. City Attorney Nisson presented a first draft of the Lease to Orange County for five years at $90.00 per month relative to space to be leased to the County in the new City Hall. RESOLUTION Attorney Nisson presented Resolution No. 241 entitled NO.241 "Resolution of the City Council of the City of Tus- ADOPTED tin authorizing Mayor to sign lease on behalf.of the City of Tustin with the County of Orange." On motion of Councflman Miller, seconded by Councilman Bacon, the motion was carried by unanimous vote and Resolution No. 241 was adopted. RESOLUTION Resolution No. 242 entitled "Resolution of the City NO 242 Council of the City of Tustin Adjusting Administra- ADOPTED tive Overhead, Appointing New City Judge, Increasing the Salary of the Deputy Tax Collector, man Fixing New Place of Meeting of the City Council" was pre- sented by Attorney Nisson and read by Councilman Gray. On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Miller, the adoption of Resolution No. 242 was carried by unanimous vote. AUDITOR'S City Clerk Morris presented the semi-annual report REPORT of Auditor H. Louis Hanson for the period July 1 to PRESENTED December 31, I949. The Council instructed City Clerk Morris to arrange for moving the safe in the City Clerk's Office from the old to the new City HalI. HOURS On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman CHANGED FOR Miller and duly carried, the hour for opening the CITY CLERK'S City Clerk's Office in the new City Hall was changed 0FFICE from 8 A. M to 9 A. M., effective February 1, 1950. Councilman Gray stated that he had authorized Fire Chief Lindsay to purchase a white cap as requested by the Fire Chief. Councilman Miller moved, seconded by Councilman Gray, that certain recommendations by Building Inspector Broomell relative to charges for Electrical and Plumbing Permits, where the installation required one inspectlion only, be incorporated into Ordinances. BILLS The following bills were presented, approved and on motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Gray and duly carried, were ordered paid.
