COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD
IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, ON MON-
DAY EVENING, DECEMBER 5, 1949, AT
7:30 P.M.
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN HUMESTON, CHARLETON, BACON, MILLER AND
GRAY
ABSENT WERE: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON JR. AND CITY ENGINEER J. L.
McBRIDE WERE PRESENT.
Mayor Humeston called the meeting to order at 7:30
P. M.
Minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and ap-
proved with the exception of a change in Paragraph
10 in which it was stated that "Councilman Charleton
and Bacon were requested to investigate the matter
of possible installation of a Gasoline Pump and
Storage Tank at the new City Hall which was cor-
ected to read as follows "the City Clerk's Office
by correspondening with gasoline distributors was
quested to investigate the matter of possible in-
stallation of a gasoline pump and storage tank at
the new City Hall."
Mr. Arthur Williams, of 160 South E Street, was
present and was requested by Mayor Humeston to sub-
mit a report as to the removal of a horse that he
had been keeping within the city limits in viola-
tion of City Ordinance No. 44. Mr. Williams stated
that he had not been successful in disposing of the
horse within the two weeks allowed at the previous
meeting and requested more time in which to find a
buyer for the animal. Councilman Charleton moved
that Mr. Willjams be granted ten days extension of
time in which to arrange to have the horse out of
the city limlts. Seconded by Councilman Bacon the
motion carried.
ENGINEER City Engineer McBride reported to the Council re-
MCBRIDE RE- garding the proposed traffic Signals at Main & D
PORTS ON Streets, and presented three copies of a Supplemental
TRAFFIC Agreement to be known as Project No. 15 as stated in
SIGNALS Article I of the Project, and by Resolution No. 239,
which was adopted on motion of Councilman Miller,
seconded by Councilman Bacon and carried. Mr. Mc-
Bride stated that the agreement called for an expen-
diture of $2000.00 as the City's share and of
$12,000.00 as the State's estimated share of the
cost of installation of the signals.
REGARDING The matter of bulk storage of gasoline and oil for
BULK STORAGE use of the City's equipment was taken up by the
GAS & OIL Council. The size of the proposed tank and type of
FOR CITY pump was discussed and it was suggested that several
EQUIPMENT oil companies be contacted and bids requested on a
yearly basis. Councilman Gray then moved that Council-
man Miller submit specifications for the installa-
tion of gasoline and oil storage facilities and to
turn the same over to the City Clerk so that he can
request bids from several of the wholesale oil com-
panies. Seconded by Councilman Charleton the motion
duly carried.
On motion of Councilman Miller, Councilman Gray in
conjunction with City Attorney Nisson, was authorized
to negotiate contracts with the County Supervisors
for the rental of quarters for the County Library
and Justice of the Peace and Constable in the new
City Hall, on the basis of starting the rentals as
of January 15, 1950. Seconded by Councilman Bacon
the motion carried.
Mayor Humeston presented a letter from the Schneider
Tractor Co., of Tustin, commending the Police Depart-
ment for their work in patrolling the vicinity of
their plant.
A letter from the Fire Department was presented
thanking the Council for the protection afforded
the members through the Group Insurance Policy as
arranged by the Council.
BILLS The following bills were presented, approved and or-
dered paid on motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by
Councilman Charleton and duly carried.

The meet ing was adjourned on motion of Councilman
Charleton, seconded by Councilman Bacon and duly carried.
