HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1949 11 21198 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, ON MON- DAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 21, 1949, AT 7:40 P.M. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN HUMESTON, RAY, CHARLETON, AND BACON. ABESNT WERE: COUNCILMAN MILLER. CITY ATTORNEY: C. ARTHIUR NISSON JR., WAS PRESENT. Mayor Humeston called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M. Minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and ap- proved after correction was made in Paragraph 10 in which the wording was changed to state that "Council- man Gray moved that a Group PoIicy covering the mem- bers of the Tustin Volunteer Fire Department be ap- proved and that Councilman Gray be authorized to pro- ceed with the Group Insurance Plan as outlined in previous Council Meetings for the members for the Fire Department." MINUTES OF Minutes of a Special Meeting of the City Council held SPECIAL- at 145 West First St., Tustin, on October. 19, 1949, MEETING were read and approved. READ Mr. Arthur Williams, of 160 South E Street, was pre- sent and requested permission of the Council to keep a mare at the above address. On motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by councilman Bacon and duly carried, he was granted two weeks in which to remove the mare from the city limits with the understanding that he was to report disposition of the matter at the next meeting of the CouncilI either in person or in writing. GROUP Councilman Gray informed the Council of his talk with INSURANCE the members of the Fire Department at which time he PLAN FOR informed them that the Group Insurance Plan covering FIRE DEPT. the members of the Department had been approved by the Council and stated that this motion had been greatly appreciated by the Firemen. The admittance of Harold Duff and Ray Folkner to membership in the Fire Dapartment was also reported to the Council. On motion of Councilmah Gray, seconded by Councilman Charlston the Council instructed the City Clerk to issue a Warrant in the amount of $70.00 in favor of Architect Roland L. Russell as the first of four equal payments remaining of his fee for architec- tural services regarding the new City Hall and Fire Station. Motion carried. FIRST PAYMENT Councilman Gray stated that Mr. Sherman E. Salter, TO CONTRACTOR Contractor building the new City Hall, was due for SALTER IS the first of five equal payments of $3,223.24 each. AUTHORIZED Councilman Charleton moved to authorize payment of the above amount to Contractor Salter and the City Clerk was instructed to issue a Warrant for that amount forthwith. Seconded by Councilman Bacon the motion carried. RESOLUTION Councilman Gray moved to adopt Resolution No. 238 NO. 238 "Authorizing adoption of changes in the drawings ADOPTED for alterations and additions to the new City Hall" in accordance with a letter received from Architect Roland L. Russell, dated November 15, 1949, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign a contract with Mr. Salter incorporating these changes. Seconded by Councilman Charleton the motion duly carried. Councilman Gray moved that the Purchase Order System be adopted as outlined and that all purchases for the City be coordinated through the City Clerk's Office and further providing that on all purchases over $10.00 that not less than three estimates must be on record by firm name and the amount of their estimate, all to be entered on the proper form. Seconded by Councilman Charleton the motion duly carried. The City Clerk's Office submitted a report of gasoline and oil consumption by the Police Car and City Truck during the past twelve months and the City Clerk's Office, by corresponding with gasoline distributors, was requested to investigate the matter of possible installation of a Gasoline Pump and Storage Tank at the new City Hall. The following bills were presented, approved and or- dered paid on motion of Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Charleton and duly carried.
