LEFT ~JRN ARR0~ A review of Councilmn Edgar's concern of the left turn arrow indications at the subject intersection has ~-~cn reviewed as requested. The wording on the signs indicates "Left Turn On Arrow Only". The red and amber arrows are standard type installations with the signing as it exists. On any continuous burning red light, whether it be an arrow or conventional ball, the indication is to stop. On any continuous burning amber light, the indication is to slow down and prepare to stop. It does not appear that this installation will provide any confusion to the n~torists; however, if the Council so desires these signs can be replaced with signs indicating "Left Turn On Green Arrow" in lieu of the existing signs. BOB LED~qDECKER DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC ~ID~KS/ CITY ENGINEER db CITY CfI3NCIL: The Vehicle Code is consistent in its definition of what action a motorist must take when he/she see's a red, yellow or green traffic light. The fact that the light in this situation is an "arrow" does not change the drivers responsibility to respor~ accordingly. RECC~SlH~I~TICI~: I reconmend no further action.
