HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1949 01 031521 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, ON MONDAY EVENING, JAN. 3rd, 1949, AT 7:30 O'CLOCK. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN CHARLETON, HUMESTON, BACON AND MILLER. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMAN FORNEY ATTORNEY NISSON WAS PRESENT. Mayor Charleton called the meeting to order at the usual time and Chas. E. Morris, City Clerk, read the minutes of the preceeding meeting. The minutes of Dec. 20th, were thereupon corrected and adopted. Chas. Greenwood, from the Chamber of Commerce, was ERECTION OF present for information concerning the erection of an ENTRANCE SIGN entrance sign near the Southeasterly City limits. Clearification of the attitude of the Council was requested and after discussion, Councilman Humiston moved that the City allocate a sum of money, not to exceed $180.00 for the sign, with the provision that if one-half of the total cost of the sign was less CITY TO PAY than $180.00, that the City would not pay more than ONE HALF OF one-half of such costs. Councilman Miller seconded COST OF SIGN the motion. Motion duly passed. Mayor Charleton requested Councilman Humiston and Miller, if Councilman Forney was unavailable, to go with Mr. Greenwood to settle on one location of the sign. General agreement was that one sign LOCATION OF Undergrould be located between Red Hill Ave., and the SIGN Tustin High School, on the North side of the highway. Correspondence was read and an announcement of a Peace Officer's Training School at Berkeley was received. The Council decided not to send anyone to the school. Increased dues, from $50.00 to $75.00, to the California League of Cities, was noted, due to the increased population of the City. Attorney Nisson reported on the cost of Law Books which he requested the City to procure for the use of the City. Mayor Charleton requested the matter be brought up at the next meeting when all of the members would be present. The following Bills were read and approved, on motion of Councilman Miller, and seconded by Councilman Bacon.
