MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, ON
MONDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 20th, 1948,
AT 7:30 OCLOCK-
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN CHARLETON, HUMESTON, MILLER
FORNEY AND BACON
ABSENT WERE: NONE.
ATTORNEY NISSON WAS PRESENT.
Mayor Charleton called the meeting to order
at the ususl time, and ordered adoption of
the minutes of the meeting of Dec. 6th, 1948.
Joe Ojeda was invited by the Mayor to state
JOE OJEDA REQUESTS what he wished to bring before the Council
A SIGN BE PLACED ON and he requested a joint installation of a
EAST SIDE OF TUSTIN sign on the East side of Tustin, as was
installed on the West last year, and after a
discussion, Councilman Humiston moved and it was
duly seconded by Councilman Bacon, and
unanimously carried that the City allocate
$180.00 for the installation of the sign,
providing it be established at a location
mutually agreed upon.
The Committee consisting of Councilman
Bacon and Humiston, gave as their opinion
TO GUARD AGAINST that the Tustin Water Company was doing all
WATER SHORTAGE IN they could, and probably all necessary, to
THE FUTURE protect the City against any shortage of
water for the City's use in the near
future. That no further investigation
of joining the Metropolitan Water '
District, and that the matter would ride
as is until something changed the local
water picture. No further Committee action
to be taken.
Police Chief McMullen reported improvements
of the conditions at Mountain View Filling
Station, where in the past, there had been
IMPROVEMENT REPORTED disturbances, and also in continuing an
AT MOUNTAIN VIEW investigation on parking space by the side
FILLING STATION of the Filling Station, belonging to
Fitzgerald (a report was given by the Street
Superintendent on the removal of two Petter
trees. One at Main and Tustin, and the
other on Prospect between Second and Third,
and also the trimming of a Pepper tree at
200 W. Main St. The total cost to be
$300.00.
The Police Commissioner Bacon moved to
increase the Officer Force to three men,
RECOMMENDATION TO PUT for a trial of six months. Second to the
ON THIRD POLICE Motion was given by Councilman Miller.
OFFICER Motion carried.
Police Chief McMullen was instructed to put
on the third Officer during the week holidays.
There were three bids placed before the
Council for the re-roofing of the Fire Hall,
BIDS CONSIDERED FOR and after considering the bids, Councilman
RE-ROOFING FIRE HALL Miller moved to instruct Councilman Bacon
to further investigate the matter, and to
place the order on the bid that he felt
would be best for the repair work.
Attorney Nisson reported on the Code Books
that he felt should be on file at the City
Hall, on General Law, and it was decided

Commissioner and Street Superintendent get three
estimates on the tree work, and proceed to have the
work done, on the best satisf actory bid.
A petition of residents on ~dountain View, near
,,, First St., protesting motorcycle abuses in and
Pbout Ed. Fitzc,erald's :service Station. 1'he matter
eras turned over to the Ghief of Police and City
- Attorney to assist the Chief of Police, an.i tell
motorc;~clists and Fitzgerald of the violation a.nd
warn them against further violations, and to report
progress on~tne matter back at tiie next meeting.
Chief iv1c~Iullen is authorized to check parking next
to crossing walk near Fitzgerald's Service Station
and report time and dates of parking in this space at
the next ineeting.
Councilman Bacon recom^~ended a six-months trial

Councilman Forney moved to a3~ourn. Councilman
Humiston seconded the motion. i+Ioti~n carried.
