HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1948 10 18I MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, OCTOBER 18th, 1948 AT 7:30 P. M. Present were: Councilmen: Charleton, Forney, Bacon, Miller and Humeston. Absent were: Councilmen: None Attorney : C. Arthur Nisson was present. Mayor Charleton called the meeting to order and the minutes of the meeting of Oct. 4th were read and approved. Dave Carmicheal was present to discuss with the Board, Insurance carried by his Company, (The Orange County Insurance Agency) Mr. Carmicheal readjusted insurance values of vehicles and generally brought up the policies for the year, which is a third of a three-year contract which the Agency has with the City. Councilman Bacon moved, and it was regularly Humeston to seconded and unanimously carried, that Council- represent Tustin man Vincent L. Humeston be appointed Alternate Sanitation Dist. Representative for the City of Tustin, to District No. 7, of Orange County Sanitation Committee. Attorney Nisson was asked no investigate the status of just where Tustin stands with regard to assurance for ample water for the City and report to the Council what the assurances are to safeguard the City ample water by the Tustin Water Works. The matter of Police protection for the City over Hallowe'en night was brought up and discussed and several possibilities were advanced. Among them was to have some special Officer, and to have Marine Shore Patrol, and also that the Tustin Water Works offer some help to assure against the repitition of last year when hoodlums turned on fire hydrants. The Chief of Police was to work out a plan with the Mayor to safeguard the City from the annoyance of the pranksters. The Council members discussed the schooling for Officers that is being conducted by the Peace Officers of the County at the Junior College and urged the Police Chief and Officer States to avail themselves of the opportunity of the schooling so as to be up to date in acting as a Police Officer. C. E. Morris $ 18.56 The following Bills were presented for payment. Ben Reyes 56.00 Counoilman Forney to pay them all except Consolidated the Sully-Miller bills of $559.55 and $685.95, Products 5.44 and the McCallan bill of 409.75, which were Pieper's Feed to be further studied. Councilman Humeston Store 11.80 seconded the motion. Motion carried. McCalla Refining Co. 409.75 The meeting was adjourned on the motion of Tustin Hardware 5.11 Councilman Forney, regularly seconded and Lois Falkner 12.00 unanimously carried. C. E.
