HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1948 10 04 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING, OCT. 4th, 1948 Present Were: Couhcilmen; HUMESTON, BACON AND MILLER Absent Were: Councilmen; CHARLETON AND FORNEY. Councilman Bacon moved that Councilman Humeston act as Mayor pro tem, for the meeting and Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mayor pro tem Humeston ordered that the minutes of the meeting of Sept. 20th be adopted after some miner changes. The Stop Signals for Main and 101 Highway, as well as the Tustin Ave. (Highway 55) was talked over and the conclusion was that all had been done possible, and that we should just have to wait the move of the Highway Department for results. BilI Gray and Albert Thorman were present to discuss the possibilities of a shooting club in the basement of the K. P. building for members, for a club of American Legionaires. The Council indicated no definate objections and suggested that an application by letter would get a full consideration. Mr. Shay Hancel brought up the matter of drainage in front of his residence at Third and Pacific Sts. On advice of Engineer McBride, it was agreed to have the Fire Department on their next drill, clean out the culvert on the west side of Pacific St. at Third, and cut a drain gutter on the north side of Third St., to 75 ft. west of Pacific. Engineer McBride was authorized to hire Ben Reyes to fix sides of the roads being worked, and to work for Street Sup't. McMullen in removing tree limb off Crawford property on S. "C" St. Engineer McBride reported that Sully Miller Co. was to do repairing on bad spots of "A" St, and that he expected there would be unsatisfactory work between "A" and "B" Sts. on Second, but that it would be no fault of Sully Miller Co., and that he would take the blame for any such condition. Councilman Bacon moved that the alley running east of "C" St., south side Lot 4, Block "C", Tract 338, be graded and black-topped for a debth of around 90 ft. from east gutter of "C" St., on condition that Wm. Miller guarantee to pay one-half of the cost ef the black-top, not to be more than $225.00. Engineer McBride was authorized to have the work done accordingly. Councilman Miller having seconded the motion. Motion carried. There was a discussion regarding getting started on next years Street project, lined up soon on "C" st. First to Main.
