CODE 05-04-81DATE: May 4, 1981 5-4-81 Inter-Corn TO: FROM: SUBJECT: Honorable Mayor and City Council Community Development Department Ordinance No. 843, Adoption of State Historical Building Code BACKGROUND On April 6, 1981, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 81-33 which addressed selection criteria for historic sites, established a policy for historic preservation and set procedures for historic designation. At present there are no buildings within the City designated as historic buildings. However, the Gfeller Development will be making application to the City Council to designate the Stevens home as a historical building in order to change the occupancy rating from residential to office use. Adoption of the State Historical Building Code will permit the conversion of historic buildings under less restrictive building standards than those required by the 1979 Uniform Building Code which is applicable to all other projects. Application of the Uniform Buildin9 Code would preclude the conversion or rehabilitation of historical buildings. RECOMMENDED ACTION 1. Have first reading by title only. 2.
