DISCUSSION The attached survey shows that the City of Tustin currently has the lowest reimbursement rate for the use of personal vehicles for City business. Considering the economic changes in the cost of operating a vehicle in the past three years, it is no longer appropriate to only reimburse employees at a rate of 15¢ per mile. An increase to 20¢ per mile would be in line with what the IRS is currently allowing and what other cities of our size are reimbursing. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that Council increase the amount of mileage reimbursement from 15¢ to 20¢ per mile, effective July 1, 1981.
