HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN ON TUESDAY EVENING AT 7:00
O'CLOCK P.M. JULY 6, 1948.
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: CHARLETON, FORNEY, BACON, MILLER,
AND HUMESTON.
ABSENT WERE:: COUNCILMEN: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON WAS PRESENT,
ALSO CITY ENGINEER MCBRIDE.
~HE MINUTES WERE READ AND ADOPTED WITH MINOR
CHANGES ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR.
NEW IPLANNING THE PLANNING COMMISSION REQUESTED OF THE COUNCIL
COMMISSIONERS
THE NAMING OF 3 NEW MEMBERS TO THE PLANNING BOARD.
COUNCILMAN BACON MOVED THAT THE NAME OF BILL GRAY,
WM. I. MILLER, AND LEE BYRD BE ELACED ON THE COUNCIL
AS THE 3 NEW MEMBERS REQUIRED. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON
SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
STREET REPAIRS CONSULTING ENGINEER, MCBRIDE, WAS ASKED TO'TAKE THE
DISCUSSED
FLOOR AND REPORT ON THE STREET RESURFACING JOB. HE
GAVE A LENGTHY REPORT ON WHAT HE PROPOSED TO DO ON
2ND STREET FROM MYRTLE TO B AND C TO D, 3RD STREET
FROM MYRTLE TO D AND C STREET FROM 1ST TO 6TH. HE
WAS ALSO ASKED TO COMMENT ON THE MONIES TO BE
RECEIVED FROM THE COUNTY FOR WORK ON THE STREETS
FOR MONIES THAT WAS ALLOCATED TO CITIES OF THE C
COUNTY ON GAS TAX. HE SUGGESTED DELAYING ACTION ON
THE IMPROVEMENT UNTIL OTHER MONIES COMING IN FOR
STREET WORK COULD BE APPLIED ON THIS. HE THOUGHT,
PERHAPSA THA RESURFACING OF MAIN STREET WOULD BE
THE PROPER PLACE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT.
RESOLUTION 212 RESOLUTION 212, APPROVING MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT FOR
ADOPTED
EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX FOR REPAIRS ON MAJOR CITY
STREETS WAS ADOPTED ON THE MOVE OF COUNCILMAN HUM_
ESTON. THE SECOND WAS BY COUNCILMAN MILLER AND IN
THE MOTION INSTRUCTED THE MAYOR AND CLERK TO SIGN
THE SAME.
ELECTRIC SIGN THE COUNCIL DISCUSSED THE NECESSITY OF HAVING AN

ELECTRICALLY CONTROLBED SIGNAL INSTALLED AT MAIN AND

MENT OF THE SURVEY TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE ALLOWED.
EXCHANGE OF A REPORT WAS GIVEN BY MAYOR CHARLETON TO THE COUNCIL
POLICE CAR
ABOUT THE EXCHANGE OF THE CITIES POLICE OAR FOR A NEW
FORD WHICH THEY FIGURE WOULD BE READY FOR DELIVERY
ABOUT THE 20TH OF THE ~ONTH AND BY RECEIVING $1300
TO $1350 FOR THE CITIES CAR, A NEW ONE COULD BE HAD
AT A COST OF FROM $500 TO $550 AND IT WAS AGREED BY
THE COUNCIL TO MAKE THE EXCHANGE,
DIESEL CATER- COUNCILMAN HUMESTON AND COUNCILMAN MILLER INVESTIGATED
PILLAR GRADER
CONSIDERED A FORM 402 STARE E~IIPME~T, A lO FOOT ~tESEL CATER-
PILLAR GRADER IN LOS ANGELES AND DISCUSSING ~YAT THEY
FELT THEY COULD AFFORD TO BID FOR THE EQUIPMENT. COUNCIL-
MAN MILLER ~OVED TO PLACE A BID OF $658.00 FOR THE
EQUIPMENT, AND TO INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO SIGN IN
COMPLIANCE WITH THE NECEISARY PAPERS FOR THE PLACING OF
THE BID. COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION. CARRIED.
REPORT TO THE CITY CLERK REPORTED TO THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
CITY EQUALI-
ZATION BOARD TF~T THE TIME FOR PROTESTING ON THE TAXES WAS COMPEETED
AND THAT THERE WERE NO COMPLAINTS FILED.
SIGNS A LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT RE-
MINDING OF SIGNS THAT WER AT ONE TIME INSTALLED AT 1ST
AND PROSPECT AND MAIN AND PACIFIC Ak~ THE COUNCIL IN-
STRUCTED THE STREET SUPERINTENDENT TO !AKE STEPS TO
PLACE THE SIGNS AS THE COMTfUNICATION STATED WERE NECESSARY.
INCREASE COUNCILMAN BACON MOVED TO INCREASE THE PAY OF THE CHIEF
CHIEF OF POLICE FROM $250.00 TO $262.50 OF THE FIRST OF JULY.
SALARY COUNCILMAN MILLER SECOND THE I~OTION. MOTION CARRIED.
PURCHASE THE COUNCIL INSTRUCTED THE CLERK TO PURCHASE 12 CHAIRS
CHAIRS FOR THE CITY HALL AND AE80 THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PURCHASE
A CODE BOOK FOR THE CITIES USE.
BILLS COUNCILMAN FORNEY MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS.
