MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, HELD IN
THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENING AT 7:00 O'CLOCK P.M. JUNE 21, 1948
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: MILLER, HOMESTON, FORNEY, AND BACON
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: CHARLETON
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT.
FIREWORKS V.J. TOVART WAS MEFORE THE COUNCIL WITH FURTHER REQUEST
FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF SELLING FIREWORKS FROM THE FIRST
TO THE FIFTH OF JULY IN THE CITY. HE BROUGHT WITH
HIM BILL GRAY, OOMM~NDER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION,
WHO REQUESTED THE SELLING TO ME MADE FOR THE
ACCOUNT OF THE AMERICAN LEGION. NO FIREWORKS OF
DANGEROUS NATBRE, IT WAS UNDERSTOOD, WOULD BE
PERMITTED AND WAS TO COMPLY WITH STATE HEALTH AND
SAFETY CODES. THE REQUEST WAS GRANTED.
GAS TAX RESOLUTION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE COUNTY OF ORANGE
MONEY FOR
STREET CONCERNING THE ALLOCATION OF A PORTION OF MONIES RE-
REPAIR
CEIVED BY THE COUNTY STITING THAT A PORTICN OF ~YAT
THEY RECEIVED WAS TO BE DIVIDED WITH THE CITIES OF
THE COUNTY. THE CITY CLERK WAS INSTRUCTED TO ~URN
THE MATTER OVER TO ENGINEER MCBRIDE AND HAVE HIM CONTACT
THE COUNTY AND GIVE THEM INFORMATION ON STREETS NEED-
ING REPAIR WHICH CLASSIFY AS STREETS OF MAJOR IM-
PORTANCE.
DISASTER A NOTICE OF DISASTER COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR
COUNCIL
JULY 9, 2 PLM., WAS RECEIVED WHEN ARRANGEMENTS WILL
BE MADE TO HAVE TUSTIN WORKING IN FULL ACCORD WITH
THE STATE DISASTER COUNCIL.
4TH OF JULY AN INVITATION FROM HUNTINGTON BEACH FOR TUSTIN TO
CELEBRATION
PARTICIPATE IN THEIR hTH OF JULY CELEBRATION WAS RE_
CEIVED BUT NO DEFINITE ACTION WAS TAKEN IN THE MATTER.
SIDEWALKS MR.'REELEIN WA~ BEFORE THE COUNCIL FURTHER ADVANCING
A REQUEST OF THE TRAFFIC SAFETY COUNCIL WITH REGARDS
TO HAVING SIDEWALKS PUT IN BYPROPERTY OWNERS OF THE
CITY. PERSONAL EFFORT WAS PROMISED MR. REDLEIN BY
MEMB'ERS OF THE COUNCIL AND IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT
SOME ADVERTISING MIGHT DO SOME GOOD. NO ACTION ON
THE PART OF T~E COUNCIL WAS TAKEN.
SIDEWALKS STREET SUPERINTENDENT, MCMULLEN, BROUGHT UP THE MATTER
REPAIR
OF REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS AND PRONISED TO HAVE FURTHER
BIDS TO CONSIDER FOR THE WORK TO BE DONE.
ORANGE COUNTY JUNE 29TH WAS GIVEN AS'A DATE SET FOR THE ORANGE
LEAGUE MEETING
COUNTY LEAGUES MONTHLY MEETING AND NE~ORT BEACH TO
BE THE PLACE OF THE MEETING.
SANITARY A NEETINS OF THE SANITARY DISTRICT WAS SET FOR THURSDAY,
MEETING
JUNE 24TH AT I P.M., AT THE COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE. NO
DEFINITE ASSIGNMENT OF ANY MEMBER WAS MADE TO REPRESENT
THE CITY BUT 80ME OF THE MEMBERS STATED THAT THEY HOPED
TOBE ABLE TO ATTEND,
TRUCK GRADER COUNCILMAN MILLER MOVED TO APPROVE THE SALE OF THE
SALE APPROVED
MODEL T TRUCK AND STREET ~RADER MADE BY CHIEF OF POLICE,
MCMULLEM,I AND TO EUTHORIZE THE CLERK TO SIGN THE PINK
SLIP AND THE ATTORNEY TO DRAW UP A BILL OF SALE FOR
THE GRADER.

NATION RESIGNATION WAS APPROVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL.
PLANNING THE PLANNING CONMISSION OF TUSTIN NOMINATED FOUR NAMES
COMMISSION
NOMINATES FOR WHICH THREE WERE TO BE SELECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP BY
MEMBERS
THE APPROVAL OF THE COUNCIL. LEE BYRD, WM. I. MILLER,
BILL GRAY, AND DAVID M. FORNEY WERE SELECTED.
POLICE POLICE COMMISSIONER BACON RECOMMENDED A SALARY RAISE
RAISES
FOR THE CHIEF' 0FTPOLiCE BWT ACTION IN THE MATTER WAS
DEFERRED TO'THE NEXT MEETING. IT WAS ALSO RECOMMENDED
TO RAISE RAY STA~ES WAGES BUT ACTION WAS DEFERRED
UNTIL THE EXPIRATION OF SIX MONTHS FROM HIS LAST RAISE.
BILLS COUNCILMAN FORNEY MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS.
COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
