HomeMy WebLinkAboutOB 1 ASSEMBLY BILL 591 04-06-81DATE: ~prll 6, 1981 OLD BUSINESS 4-6-81 Inter-Corn -- TO: FROH: SUBJECT: Honorable ~yor and City Council Members via Dan Blankenship C~ty Development Dep~rtment Resolution No. 81-28 supporting Assembly Bill 591 DIS~JSSION Current state law provides that the State Building Standards Co~,tssion ~,~t adopt a plumbing code that is consistant with the Uniform Plumbins Code as adopted by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechnical Officials (IAPMO). Assembly Bill 591, as introduced, would change the law to the effect that the Plumbing Code of the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) would be the standard in lieu of the IAPMO code. Assembly Bill 591 has the endorsement of the Legilative Com~ittee of the Building industr~ Association of Southern California. As requested, enclosed is a sampling of comparisons between the two codes. REC(~b~NqDAT ION It is reco_~nded that in light of the advantages of the ICBO Code, (i.e., provi_~ons that lower construction costs without adverse consequences) that City Council show ~lpport for Assembly Bill 591 by the adoption of Resolution No. 81-26.
