HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING AT 7:00 O'CLOCK
JANUARY 19, 1948.
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, HUMESTON, AND FORNEY
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: BACON
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT,
ALSO CITY ENGINEER, J.L. MCBRIDE.
THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 5,1948, WERE
READ AND ADOPTED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR.
REPORT OF CITY ENGINEER, J.L. MCBRIDE, GAVE A REPORT ON MEMORAN-
1/4 CENT GAS DUM AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE HIGHWAY DEPART-
TAX. RES. MENT, OUTLINING THE PROCEEDURE FOR MAINTENANCE AND
#200 THE COST OF OPERATION SHOWING A TOTAL COST OF $4,607.03
ON ROUTE 2. FOR REPAIRS FROM PASADENA AVENUE TO D
AND ALONG LAGUNA AVENUE FROM D TO SOUTHEASTERLY CITY
LIMITS. APPROXIMATELY 1.06 MILES. RESOLUTION # 200
WAS ADOPTED. THIS RESOLUTION APPROVING MEMORANDUM
AGREEMENT FOR 1/4 CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR STATE
HIGHWAYS. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO ADOPT THIS
RESOLUTION. COUNOILMAN CHARLETON SECOND THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE
ENGINEER MCBRIDE TO PURCHASE SURFACING MIXTURE FOR A
STREET AT $3.90 PER TON, LAID AND ROLLED. COUNCILMAN
CHARLETON SECONDTHE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
TRAFFIC MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAD THEIR REPRESEN-
SAFETY TATIVE, R.J. REDLEIN, REPORT FOR THE ACCOUNT OF THE
COMMITTEE TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE, SPOTS CONSIDERED HAZARDOUS
REPORT IN TUSTIN AND VICINITY MENTIONED ESPECIALLY AS
HAZARDOUS, TREES PLANTED TOO NEAR THE HIGHWAY. THEY
ALSO SUGGESTED THAT TUSTIN'S POLICE CAR BE PAINTED
BLACK AND WHITE TO CONFORM WITH STATE REGULATIONS.
CHANGING BUS STOP WAS ALSO SUGGESTED AS FURTHER
SAFETY METHOD. COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED THAT THE
SAFETY COUNCIL MAKE SURVEY OF HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS
AND REPORT BACK TO THE COUNCIL FOR CORRECTION.
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
CHANGE BUS STREET SUPERINTENDENT, THOMAS MCMULLEN. SUGGESTED A
STOP AT STOP FOR BUSSES AT SECOND AND D STREET, AND ALSO
MAIN & D DISCUSSED WITH THE COUNCIL, THE FEASIBILITY OF
CHANGING THE STOP AT MAIN AND D STREET, ACROSS THE
STREET IN FRONT OF THE FOOD MARKET.
LOUD SPEAKER REVEREND SCOTT, OF THE ADVENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH, ASKED
FOR CHIPRCH PERMISSION TO USE A LOUD SPEAKER ATTACHED TO HIS CAR,
FOR ADVERTISING MEETINGS AND MATTERS THAT MIGHT BE
INTERESTING TO THE CITY.
PYTHIAN A RESOMUTION FROM THE PYTHIAN SISTERS CITING THE
SISTERS COUNCIL TO THE NECESSITY OF SEWERS AND ASKED ALL BE
RESOLUTION DONE POSSIBLE TO ESTABLISH SEWERS IN TUSTIN AS QUICKLY
ON SEWERS AS POSSIBLE WAS READ.
PAY WITNESS' THE CLERK WAS AUTHORIZED TO PAY MRS. TOWNSEND AND MR.
FOR REDLEIN FRISBY $2.00 EACH AS WITNESS AT THE TRIAL OF THE CITY
TRIAL VS. REDLEIN ON THE ESTABLISHING OF A TRAILER COURT.
MRS. PRESCOTT AN APPLICATION OF MRS. PRESCOTT TO MOVE A BUILDING
BUILDING MOVED INTO BLOCK 18, TUSTIN CITY, TO BE REMODELED TO MEET
THE1946 BUILDING CODE, WAS TURNED OVER TO THE COUNCIL
BY THE PLANNING BOARD, TO BE ACTED UPON.
BILLS COUNOILMAN CHARLETON MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS.
COUNCILMAN FORNEY SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.

ADJOURN COUNCILMAN FORNEY MOVED TO ADJOURN. COUNCILMAN
