HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1947 12 01 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENING AT 7:00 O'CLOCK DECEMBER 1, 1947 PRESENT COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, FORNEY AND BACON ABSENT COUNCILMEN: HUMESTON CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT. THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING WERE READ AND ADOPTED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR. PROTEST ATTORNEY FRED JOHNSON, REPRESENTING PLACES OF BUSINESS RED ON CURBS AT MT. VIEW AND FIRST STREET, WAS BEF6RE THE COUNCIL WITH A DELEGATION OF BUSINESS MEN AT THIS CORNER PROTESTING THE RED ZONE TYING UP WHAT THEY TERMED VALUABLE PARKING SPACE, UNNECESSARILY, CAUSING LOSS OF BUSINESS. THERE WAS AN EXCHANGE IN OPINIONS ON THE MATTER OF THE AUTHORITY OF THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, THIS BEING ON THE HIGHWAY WAS MENTIONED, AND THE MATTER WAS LEFT WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION WOULD BE MADE WITH ALL PHASES OF THE MATTER CONSIDERED. NEON THE MATTER OF NEON SIGN BY JOINT EFFORT OF THE CITY OF SIGN HOOK TUSTIN AND THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS PROGRESSING AND UP- COUNCILMAN CHARLETON REPORTED THAT A SPECIAL HOOK UP FROM THE LIGHTING SYSTEM WOULD BE REQUIRED AND JOE OJEDA OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROMISED TO GO INTO THE MATTER WITH COUNCILMAN CHARLETON FOR THE FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SIGN. BILLS COUNCILMAN FORNEY MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS. COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. CHAS. E. MORRIS $16.58 FIRE DEPARTMENT $66.00 J.L.
