The tree is a Bronze Loquat. They are more of a large shrub than a tree growing to a height of perhaps 15 feet. They bear a fruit which drops making it a very messy tree. As for sidewalk damage, I could not see any evidence, however, this tree was never on an approved tree list for the City because of the dropping of the fruit and being rather unsightly. Recommendation: Remove as requested and replace with a City approved tree. J ~.~/~ ~ Hugh West Maintenance Superintendent .1 January 12, 1981 Dear Homeowner: Your neighbor Ray J. Kenney of 1641Greenmeadow Avenue has requested that the City remove the parkway tree from in front of his residence. This tree is causing the sidewalk to be raised and is a very messy species. Since the removal of this tree effects the enviornment in which you live, we request in writing any objections you may have to its removal. If we have not heard from you in writing within 10 days we will assume you have no objections to its removal. If you have any questions, please call mY office at 544-8890 ext. 240. Sincere, Maintenance Superintendent January 3, 1981 City of Tustin 300 Centennial Way Tustin, CA. 92680 Attention: Mr. Hugh West, Maintenance Superintendent Dear Mr. West: In 1979 I complained about the tree in front of our home that is on public (city) domain. I notified you that the tr~e was causing the sidewalk to lift in a tilting fashion and also move sideways. You subsequently sent out a crew that cut the roots ~that they thought were causing the problem. This letter is to notify you and the City that the tree is continuing to grow and the roots are lifting the side- walk further. I feel that this represents a hazard to the children and to other pedestrians who may trip over the walk. I request that the City remove this tree before someone is injured and see what you can do about the side walk. I also request that you not replace the tree. Please advise what can be done about this at your earliest convenience. Ray ~.' Kenny 1641 Green~eadow Ave.,
