HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1947 11 03110 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING AT 7:OO O'CLOCK NOVEMBER 3, 1947. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, BACON, AND FORNEY. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: HUMESTON CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR HISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT. COMMUNI- A LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM ORANGE COUNTY FIRE CHIEF'S CATION ASSOCIATION BY ALLAN PORTIGAL, POINTING OUT AND CON- DEMNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SELF SERVICE GASOLINE STATIONS WHICH ARE BEING ESTABLISHED IN OTHER CITIES. THE LETTER OUTLINES THE DANGER AND FULLY CONDEMN8 THE METHOD OF DISPERSING GAS ON COIN OPERATED PUMPS. PIPE LINE C. ARTHUR NISSON REPORTED ON THE MEETING OF A PIPE LINE IN "A" ST. OWNERS ON SOUTH A STREET, ON OCT. 20, 1947, THE MAYOR, COUNCILMAN HUMESTON, CHIEF MCMULLEN WERE PRESENT. PROPERTY OWNERS AGREE TO STAND EXPENSE OF REPLACING PIPE IN "A" STREET. THE MATTER WAS LEFT UNTIL CITY ENGINEER MCBRIDE COULD MEET WITH W.B. ELLIS, DON GRISET, AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF TUSTIN CEMENT PIPE COMPANY TO EFFECT FINAL AGREEMENT. CLEAN GUTTERS STREET SUPERINTENDENT MCMULLEN WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE COUNCIL TO NEGOTIATE A DEAL FOR EQUIPMENT TO CLEAN THE GUTTERS AND REPAIR SECOND STREET FROM MYRTLE TO PASADENA AND THE EAST SIDE OF PASADENA FROM FIRST TO SECOND. NIGHT MAN COUNCILMAN CHARLETON REPORTED TO THE CITY THAT HE HAD CONSIDERED APPLICANTS FOR THE HIRING'ON A PATROLMAN AND RECOMMENDED THE HIRING OF RAY STATES AT A SALARY OF $200.00 A MONTH. HE MOVED TO HIRE MR. STATES. COUNCIL- MAN FORNEY SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. METROPOLI- A.H. HOLFORD, LOCAL REAL ESTATE OPERATOR, STATED TO THE TAN WATER COUNCIL THAT THE PEOPLE IN THE EL MODENA AND LEMON HEIGHTS DISTRICT HAD MAD A MEETING AND THAT THEY WERE MAKING AN EFFORT TO GET THE METROPOLITAN WATER FOR THE DISTRICT AND INVITED TUSTIN TO MAKE A JOINT INVESTIGATION WITH THEM FOR THE POSSIBILITU OF SECURING THE WATER FOR ALL THE DISTRICTS. 11.1 STREET COUNCILMAN BACON MOVED AND IT WAS DULY SECOND SUPERINTEN- THAT THE 'STREET SUPERINTENDENT BE INSTRUCTED DENT PAINT TO PAINT THE NORTH SIDE OF FIRST STREETS CURBING CURBS FROM THE EAST SIDE OF MT. VIEW STREET AT FIRST TO THE DRIVEWAY, A DISTANCE OF SOME 18 TO 20 FEET, AND ALSO PAINT THE SIGN "NO PARKING". BILLS COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED TO PAY THE BILLS. COUNCILMAN FORNEY SECOND THE MOTION.
